There's a slight chance your Power Supply Unit isn't powerful enough to power that video card. Could you check your manuals on the computer and post the maximum wattage of the PSU?

    Hello,

When you mean switch the plug do you mean the slot on the motherboard or the plug on the back ?

Alright, let's give this a shot. Your system can handle it as the card only needs 71W of power.

Right-click your desktop and go to properties.

Screenshot.

Afterward select the tab at the top reading, "Settings."

Screenshot.

Now select your new video card in the, "Display" region and choose the device to be your, "Primary Monitor."

Screenshot.

Afterward try plugging the monitor into your new graphics card. It should work just fine.

It should be very similar if not the same. Just try to find the settings tab which allows you to select monitors, their resolution, their color quality, etc... Within that region you should be able to select your new video card as your primary video source.

Your graphics are integrated:

What I suggest you do first is uninstall prior graphics software then, download the latest driver here:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Product Type Ge Force
Product Series: Ge Force 9M Series
Product: Ge Force 9300M GS
Choose your operating system, click on search, then download. Make sure to check your resoulution.

Just installed two new monitors. Have ge force 8400 gs card. Windows 7. I can see both screens, but they are acting as two single screens. mouse won't move from screen to screen.

It sounds like you have the monitors setup as mirrored monitors instead of an extended desktop.

When in the display properties of windows click the monitor you want to have as the extended desktop and you should see a check box for extend monitor to this screen.

I got the this pny geforce 8400 gs pci card but it sends nosignal

You need to install the driver that came with the card. If you don't have it you can download it from the site. Also (for experienced users), check your BIOS setting to see if it has an option to select between the integrated graphics card your other one.

Longitudional lines on my monitor...

It could be your power supply, your monitor, your graphics card or a software problem.
Try to reinstall your graphics card drivers, if that doesnt help try another monitor.
If that also doesnt help I suggest you temporarily install another graphics card. If that also doesnt fix your problem, you should go buy another power supply.

You can always download the latest drivers from Nvidia at www.nvidia.com. Click the "download drivers" tab at the top of the page and fill in the information about your card. This way you'll have the newest software.
