That link is a video of how to take apart yor case. It is very thorough, primarily, it just shows that the side of the case is held on with a couplw of screws, looking at the tower from the front, it's the left panel that you want to remove, not the left, the right one will give you access to what yo are interested in doing.Make sure the plug is removed not just turned off. There is residual voltage that still runs into the main board from the power supply, and try to use a very light computer vacum or one of those swiffer dusters work well. If you poke around with the vacum be careful that you don't **** off the jumpers, you won't relise it untill you turn it on. You can use compressed air that is sold in computer stores or most large electronics stores like Best Buy, Don't forget to get the power supply in thr upper corner of the case, it also has fans in it that collect dust. When you re assemble it, make sure you get the panel in the groove at the bottom, and the clips at the top, and good luck

Why does my hp mediacenter 864n keeps powering off

It may be your memory sticks/cards. I had that problem and took it to the shop and all they did was move the memory sticks down 1 slot. the 1st slot was bad. This will take some detail of removing the skins on the desktop.
Hope this helps.

I have an HP Media Center PC 864n. My PC wont power on! I turned on my PC, did a few things, and I left for about an hour. When I came back my PC was off. I tried to turn my PC back on, but it wouldn't...

try to unplug it fromt he back of your pc and open the side of your case and unplug the 2 or 3 onnectors going fromthe power supply and wait 10 or so minutes amnd plug them back in and see if that changes it if it powers back on that meant it has shut off either due to a short circuit and the system killed power to protect the system from damage or the system has overheated

there is probably a problem with the disk, since you can use other disks. try cleaning the face of the disk using some form of cleaner. mathanol etc. then give it a try. if cleaning it does not work then this may be a damaged disk. just take it back and ask for a refund.

How to open up my tower to blow out the dust

Should be screws on the back of tower to take the whole top off or screws down left side back to take the left side off.If one side can come off after screws are taken out you will slide side back to remove.

You might need to open the case and make sure that the wires going from the power button are actually connected to the motherboard.
