I am having a similair problem I contacted Canon and they said it could be a sensor problem and they will look at it for free and if it is the sensor they will fix it for free they are even sending me shipping label. My camera is out of warranty by a few years.

Focus circle clear but surrounding area appears hazy

This is often the result of little available light on the focus screen. The more ambient light (and more open the aperture is) the brighter and sharper the image is in the viewfinder. Less light effects the image in the view finder and makes it harder to see and focus.

If your lens only opens to f3.5 or 4.0 and you\'re trying to shoot indoors with available light - your lens may not let enough light into the camera to see the scene as well as you can with the naked eye. An f1.4 aperture lets eight (8!) times as much light as an f4.0 does and is why they\'re so expensive.

Try the same setup in a brightly lit (sunny day) scene to see if it goes away.

Good luck!

Blury screen

HI there your screen is ok but sorry to say that the lens does not focus because the lens guide pin is damaged or dislocated. So replaced the guide pin or repaired it. After that your camera will work properly. Thanks & waiting for your feedback.

The pictures i take are blury how do i fix it

If you don't know how to use the manual focus switch it to auto focus, Check the MACRO feature, try to capture photos about 2 inch or 4 inch nearby the object, if the shots are clear and shooting in distant objects are blurred meaning you have set your camera to MACRO setting, Turn off the Macro feature

Camera will not take clear photos

As you have noted the lens is the root cause of this noise problem. I really believe there is grit in the lens gear thats preventing it from zooming or re-tracing. As for the blurring this can happen due to shutter lag.. a notorious problem in some of the powershot models. Either ways your camera needs service by an authorized professional. I would not advise you to try and clean the lens gear yourself as it can very easily get messed up and it would significantly rise the cost of the repair.

Good luck

TV, RCA MOD # F19424, CTC 203U5, Picture blury

Focus and Screen. The focus control may help, just like focusing a set of binoculars or an old camera. Watch the picture on the TV, using a mirror can help and make an adjustment until the picture is as clear as you can get it. If it still is not clear it may mean that your picture tube is weak.
If you can avoid it, don't touch the Screen control. If you have, let me know and I can advise you on the proper way to adjust it.

Blury Display on FE140

It sounds like your lens's focus element is stuck. Given the events you describe it is possible that a grain of sand has worked its way into the focus motor's gearing and jammed it up. Normally the small motor moves the focus optic in and out to achieve proper focus, if its movement is limited or completely jammed you will experience blurry pictures. The camera will have to be disassembled and the sand cleaned out to restore normal function. There are repair providers you can find online who can work on your camera.
