Error problems wi Dell 626 all in one printer

Each time printer is turned on alignment starts. After poor quality printing, message says clean cartridge nozzles /remove tape from cartridges. Very poor quality printing. Have cleaned and reset both black and color cartridges several times (including new cartridges). Disconnected printer power cord, set printer default, still gives the same error messages. HELP!

Try these steps if this did not resolve try to clear the memory of the printer
and try to print ..

# Hold the cartridge upside down, with the bar-code label facing you and take a damp paper towel.
# Use the towel to wipe the printhead of the cartridge on the bottom (where the ink comes out). Wipe the printhead horizontally in one direction only (left to right).
# Continue doing this until it looks clean.
# Then dab the cartridge on the towel to make sure the ink is flowing.
# Next, look inside the printer and locate the carrier that holds ink cartridges. Caution: Make sure the cartridges are not installed at this point.

1. Look for a shiny piece of metal underneath the contacts at the back of the carrier.
2. Take a damp cotton swab (use water only!) and wipe along the bottom of the shiny metal piece. Note: You may need more than one swab.

# Reinstall the cartridges, making sure you snap them correctly into the printer.

I am getting an error telling me to replace all 4 print heads. I thought it was odd that all 4 would go out at the same time. Should i replace all 4 print heads or is the problem something else? Maybe

This is general problem in hp plotters..
understand the concept: If U R replaced any one of print head in good working printer, printer detects new print head & it will try to align it with others. Printer will print align page to read, while reading if its found any other print heads are poor quality or bad condition, it will say to replace them also.. Some times it may 2,3 or all.
If UR printer is trying to printing align page and reading it, definitely it will detects & displays the faulty /poor quality print heads. U have to replace it..
If UR feels its expensive, try to clean the print heads manually & try for UR luck...

Replaced black ink cartridge, but now it only prints a very faint line, cant make out what is printing

Sir/Madam

If your printed pages have a horizontal line in the text or graphics (as shown in the illustration below) or blank text, some of the nozzles may be clogged and need to be cleaned

Go to Section 2 for instructions on how to print the Alignment Check sheet and adjust the print alignment.

Section 1: Checking the print quality and cleaning the print head

  1. Print a Print Quality Check Sheet.

    1. Press Menu.
    2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key or the dial pad to choose Ink Management and press OK.
    3. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key or the dial pad to choose Test Print and press OK.
    4. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key or the dial pad to choose Print Quality/Alignment and pressOK.
    5. Press Color (Colour) Start. The machine begins printing the Print Quality Check Sheet.
  2. Closely examine the Print Quality Check Sheet. Each of the four colors is represented by a slanted square pattern made up of individual blocks. The colors should appear in the following order from left to right: Black - Yellow - Cyan - Magenta.
  3. Compare the print quality of the Check Sheet you just printed with the three examples listed below:

    (A) One or more complete blocks of colors are missing:

3539a464-0a65-438d-8089-d017bae2e5c6.gif

(B) Most of the short diagonal lines are missing from one or more color blocks:

(C)Some parts of the short diagonal lines are missing from one or more color blocks:

  1. The display will then ask you if the print quality is OK for black. Press the DOWN ARROW key or 2 to choose Nofor black with the problem.
  2. The display will then ask you if the print quality is OK for Color. Press the DOWN ARROW key or 2 to chooseNo for color with the problem.
  3. The display will then show Start Cleaning? Yes No.
Press the UP ARROW key or 1 to choose Yes and the machine will start cleaning the color ink cartridges.
  4. When the machine completes cleaning the print head, press Color (Colour) Start. Another Print Quality Check Sheet will print.
  5. Repeat the cleaning and the quality check process following the Step 4-7.
  6. Compare the second or third Print Quality Check Sheet with the first one you printed in step1:
9. Compare the second or third Print Quality Check Sheet with the first one you printed in step1:

  • If the print quality on the first Check Sheet matched Example (A) or (B) and you do not see any improvement on the second or third Check Sheet, please contact Brother Customer Service from "Contact Us."

  • If the print quality on the first Check Sheet matched Example (A) or (B) and you see some improvement on the second or third Check Sheet but it's not perfect, repeat the cleaning and the quality check process three more times (totally five times). If you do not see any further improvement after that, please contact Brother Customer Service from "Contact Us."

  • If the print quality on the first Check Sheet matched Example (C) and you do not see any improvement on the second or third Check Sheet, repeat the cleaning and the quality check process three more times (totally five times). If you still do not see any improvement, please contact Brother Customer Service from "Contact Us."

10. Press Stop/Exit.

Section 2: Checking the Print Alignment
  1. Press Menu.
  2. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key or the dial pad to choose Ink Management and press OK.
  3. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key or the dial pad to choose Test Print and press OK.
  4. Press the UP OR DOWN ARROW key or the dial pad to choose Print Quality/Alignment and press OK.
  5. Press Black (Mono) Start or Color (Colour) Start. The machine begins printing the Alignment Check Sheet.
  6. By reviewing this Check Sheet, you can determine if the alignment needs adjustment.
  7. Examine the 600 dpi and 1200 dpi test prints on the Alignment Check Sheet. If the number 5 sample of both the 600 dpi and 1200 dpi most closely matches the 0 sample, press the UP ARROW key or 1 to choose Yes.
If one of the other samples is a better match for the 0 sample, press the DOWN ARROW key to choose No. The display will then prompt you to choose the sample that most closely matches the 0 sample for 600 dpi and then 1200 dpi.
  8. Press Stop/Exit.
If the print quality continues to be poor, go to Section 1 to clean the print head.

I have a Brother MFC-210. It was working well. When I moved and hooked it back up. It was printing some pages fine and then it started printing double like 3d. Started with a few words. Now the whole page...

Check the alignment. Press the key for Ink or Ink Management on the Control Panel. Select Test Print (the up/down arrows) and hit Menu/Set or Set. Select Alignment and press Menu/Set or Set. Next hit Mono (Black) Start. Look at the Alignment Sheet that prints out. Press 1 if the number 5 sample matches line 0 for both 600 and 1200 DPI samples. Press 2 and then the number for the line that matches that matches the 0 sample.
Then press Stop/Exit. Repeat this for color printing by using the Color button.

You should also check the Print Quality. (Very similar menu choices - just choose Print Quality after choosing Test Print but you only need to hit the Color button to print the test sheet.) This will initiate a cleaning cycle for any poor quality ink test pattern. You will need to respond Yes or No for the print quality and each ink (if you answered No). If you do the cleaning 5 times with problems, replace the cartridges in question.

Finally try cleaning the printhead (Press Ink or Ink Management and then 1 for cleaning) If 5 repeats do not help, contact Brother support, the print head may need to be replaced. (Unfortunately, this isn't the only reason for the problem. Once you put in a print head, it isn't returnable. It could be that the entire printer is ready for recycling.)

I hope this helps.

I use the klennex with a few drops of water to dampen and clean off those contact on the holder and my printer work again. Before you print anything, you should run aligned the catridges a couple times then run clean catridges a couple times.
Print the test page to see how it's look and way you go.
Be sure not to leave any debris of klennex on those holder contact panel.

Too bad that I also cound not find out how to reset the ink indicator. It's annoying to hit the OK button every time you want to print.

Try and see if it's work for you. Good luck......

I have a Dell 946 printer that is a couple of years old. It has started printing crooked on the pages. I have done the alighnment and that did not fix the problem. Can you help?

probably no much you can do the correct the problem because The problems that users encounter while using a Dell printer
varies with the model. However the common problems all Dell printer models suffer from are their slow speed and faulty paper feed mechanism. Quality of prints varies from one model to another, but most of the models do not produce prints having very fine qualities. A Dell printer is particularly notorious for its poor and faulty feed mechanism. They tend to cripple the papers or take in large number of papers at a time and print parts of documents on each page. They keep on generating messages indicating lack of paper, no matter the paper is being supplied or not. Such a problem makes the printer absolutely useless

Either there is a bad contact with one of the inks ( take it out clean the contacts w/ alcool),or turn it off open the printhead area and try putting it back to it's original place, which is usually on the far right.
