GPSMAP 60CX BACKLIGHT PROBLEM

I accidentally droped my GPS, and the backlight was gone. Have not been able to turn it on again. In the past, this has happended but by turning off, then on again the unit, the backlight will work again.

Sending the GPS to Garmin to replace a bulb for $125, is not a good option!

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jose R. Burset

After asking Garmin for a solution, they have confirmed that the only option is sending the unit to them, costing $125, no matter what they do to fix the problem!!!

I opened the unit and the bulb or led (I do not know what they use), is not accessible. Miraculously the light started working after almost a week without working.

I suddenly had the same problem. Here a page with the explanations : http://forums.motionbased.com/smf/index.php?topic=3814.0 I removed the cache back to clean power connectors, tighten the cache back to properly adjust the power connectors on the map. Now everything is working properly.

Backlight problem: Remove the display, remove the light tube from behind the LCD. Buy a led panel from Ebay for around $5 and install it behind the LCD under the drfusing layers. Run the wires out to a 12 VDC source and there you have it.

When i turn on my gpsmap 60 cx it never acquires the satellites,it stays on this screen.

I had this on my Tom-Tom once. I think I reset it using the poke-a-pen-in reset switch, turned it off, charged it up with USB cable, updated it from the site, then went outside with it and it then finally acquired.

A stolen GPSMAP 60Cx is it posible to locate it once it is turned on???

Sorry, no. Report serial number and internal ID number(if known) to Garmin and the Police. If a map is ever unlocked for it or it comes in for repair at least Garmin will know.

Garmin 60cx or 60csx

The marine version of the 60 series is the 76. Same insides, different case. I assume that's what they meant.

Either one will geocache (actually, any will but it's easier in some units than others.).
