Question about Dewalt DW056 18 Volt Cordless Impact Driver - 1/4" Drive Hex Shank (Battery Charger and Case Not Included) - Tool Only

1 Answer

02-03-09 Tues. 9:30am CST Hi Tech Help I have a DeWalt 1/4" Cordless Impact Driver DW056. It seems to slip when the trigger is engaged when loosening fasteners. I think the driver started impacting immediately when I first got it. How is the tool supposed to work? Thanks...Paul

Its supposed to impact immediately that is what gives the tool its power. once you get used to it you will use it for everything its lighter and more powerfull than the drill. just dont use spade bits in it or it will shatter them. try to buy tips that are impact ready

If your wanting the sleeve, #12 on breakdown, then search the part # as There are other places that still have it. http://www.ereplacementparts.com/dewalt-dw056-type-18v-cordless-impact-driver-parts-c-1009_9591_2845.html

Can you change just the bushes on a dewalt dw056

No, the brushes are part of the motor and pinion, Dewalt part number 607990-03. If you search "dewalt 607990-03" you can find several on-line vendors that sell the motor. They run about $50 plus shipping.

My impact driver is not this model its a dc827 but it quit hammering it just free wheels if you just slightly pull the trigger is kinda works is there anything i can do to fix this prolbem?

The pinion on front of motor is slipping on motor shaft. It seems to be just a press fit. Seems like a flaw in design. I had same problem. I took my dw056 apart and took pinion off motor and pressed groves into motor shaft with side cutter pliers. then pounded pinion back onto motor shaft. We will see how long this lasts the motor shaft is a softer metal. I feel the motor shaft should be hardened steel like the pinion and have a shear pin or some sort of spline to attach to pinion. Would like Dewalt to offer fix for this as I only used dw056 a couple of times before I had problem.

Either brushes or trigger. I would check brushes first. Juraj

I have an 18 volt 1/2" drive cordless impact wrench made by DeWalt and when I pull the trigger the motor runs but not the anvil?

Sounds like you have a gear broke that runs from the motor to the shaft. Take it apart and check it out. easy to put back together. atleast you will know for sure and may fix it while it's opened up.

Gear slipping in dewalt dw056

Those gears are only held on the motor with their tight fit, if yours is slipping that easily the motor will have to be replaced. The new motor will have that gear on it.
