thankyou. i managed to unblock the sink and drain washer through the filter at the bottom front of machine so tried it again and it still isnt doing it. it seems to get stuck on certain programes too. the drainage pipe goes through the the same under the sink pipes.

Hi, where is the drain for the washer located? If it is behind the sink in the plumbing scheme or it needs the sink to vent then that is more than likely the problem.

It depends on where the sink is blocked, and how the washing machine plumbing is set up.

If the sink is blocked in the p-trap under the sink, and the washing machine does not drain to that trap, then it's a separate problem.

That being said, if this is in fact the way the washing machine is plumbed, then it indicates that there is not an air gap between the washing machine hose and the drain. There must be an air gap or the washer will likely not drain, regardless of how it is plumbed to the sink or not.

Reply back with further information, or if you need clarification. But yes, the sink being plugged could be the cause of the washer problem, or may just be coincidental and not have anything to do with it.

The washing machine drain hose MUST always have an air gap between it, and house plumbing. If it doesn't, you risk the washing machine siphoning water back into itself.

From what your describing, I am not sure how the washer drain is connected to the sink plumbing, but it sounds like a tight connection, which would be OK, as long as there was a way for air to enter to break the siphon.

If the washer connection is between the sink and the trap, then when the washer drains, it's very likely to back water up into the sink. Depending on the washer elevation with respect to where the drain hose connects, that water could either gravity flow or siphon back to the washer when the drain cycle stops. Not good.

If the washer connection was/is after the trap for the sink, then water could still back up into the sink, but it's less likely, depending on how well the water flows in the piping system from that point on.

Poor draining of the washer could cause the cycles to be messed up as water may be in the washer when it's not supposed to be, and that confuses the control.

If the sink and washer drain are tied together which i don't think it is,if washer drian was cloogged it would overflow behind the washer, most of the time if a washer will not spin or drain it's the door swich gone out-mike

Spins but laundry is still dripping wet

This happens to me sometimes. My washing machine doesn't drain right into the drain, I have a pipe coming out of the back of the machine that I have to hook into the kitchen sink myself to let the water drain out. My washing machine was still full and I realized that it was because my sink was a little blocked and so it was draining too slowly and leaving water in the machine. If there was too much water, it would sometimes help to put the machine on again or put it on a drain cycle. My machine doesn't have a spin cycle so it will just give your clothes an extra spin so I couldn't do that and my clothes would still come out dripping wet. I advise that you give them another spin before you take them out if possible! xxThe fact that the washing machine is spinning but not drying clothes shows that there is some problem with the outlet of water. The water outlet is blocked. You can check for the blockage yourself. Normally threads or other waste accumulate in the water outlet, and if possible you can remove it yourself. Otherwise call your washing machine's customer services center and ask them to send a repair man

Miele novitronic w830. Drain wont work. I've cleaned the outlet of dirt and the wheel inside the outlet is spinning freely. Reggadles, red light comes up.

Hi,

Have you tried checking the drain spigot under the sink where the waste hose connects as it can be blocked at this end?
Try draining the unit into a bucket instead of the sink this will eliminate the washing machine as being the problem if it works ok.

is the drain pump actually turning? select drain or drain spin and have the fluff filter (outlet) removed so you can see if it is turning. if it isn't turning there maybe a broken wire to the drain pump causing it not to turn or the drain pump is jammed with something although you mentioned you could spin it freely.

hope this helps

My kenmore front loader wont spin fast. it will spin when the clothes are washing slowly but wont spin fast to get rid of the water so clothes stay soaking wet.

Check your drain and make sure it isn't plugged. If ok then remove the bottom panel on the front of the machine. Under it is the washer pump. The pump is either clogged or bad. The washer will not go into a full spin when the water isn't draining properly.

My GE washer will not run a full cycle. It fills up non stop, while at the same time its draining. It was running the cycle and would get stuck on the rinse/spin cycle. But now the knob doesn't even move...

One very slim chance is that the waste water hose does not have an air break in it

The pipe is supposed to be placed into a drain which allows a flow of air to the pipe out of which the water is being pumped

If there is not an air break then the mchine can set up a syphon action which will not allow the unit to fill to the right levels

Quick check is to dump the oulet hose into a sink and run the machine , be sure to secure the pipe in case it slips out and also that the sink can empty fast enough for the water being pumped into it by the washer .

If you are saying that the machine wont stop filling try turning the water off at the fawcet

Clothes wet, doesnt spin fast

Check the drain spigot, where the drain hose attaches to the drain trap under the sink/tub.There may be a blockage in the spigot which is causing the water to drain very slowly and therefor not allowing the machine to spin at normal fast speed.
