Dell 18.0 monitor - vertical lines

I have a dell 18.0 monitor with a dimension 8300 system that has recently developed vertical lines on the monitor. had the monitor checked out, it's ok. took out and cleaned the video card, fan was dirty. replaced the display driver from one through dell support, no change. sometimes when i go on the internet, the lines disappear but they're always on the desktop. problem comes and goes, never really consistent all the time but always vert. lines. problem seemed to 1st appear after downloading mcafee antivirus through aol. uninstalled that, installed cyberdefender. have done all system maint-cookies, recy. bin, disc cleanup, defrag, cleaned hard drive, you name it. one time it was working ok for 2 hours then lines again.both cooling fans in tower both working good. help if you can?? your help is much appreciated!

Vertical bands and lines on computer monitor

Ensure that your Graphics card is connected properly, you may clean the contact fingers with tissue paper. If however you don't have a graphics card then you can put it down to bad drivers in which case you would download the latest of the net, use google, or heat, your computer may be getting too hot. Install as many fans as possible and clean your computer of any dust. Dust attracts moisture and can cause short circuits. My published guide entitled My Computer is not turning on!!! Is it dead!!! No POST!!! may help in this case, hey there is always some-thing to learn.

Thanking you

Need to replace the video card on dell dimension 8300 computer. Monitor has vertical lines on it. Changed the monitor - same thing happens. If you hit the top of the tower, it will stop with the lines...

seems like you might need to replace the video card. If you have any spare compatible card that you can use i would test it with that. If not you can find one for about $50-$199 depending on specifications at most retail stores or online.

hope this helps.

I have a dell dimension 8300 and the factory monitor has horizontal lines flickering all over, with intermittent fuzzy haze. Do I need to replace my graphics card to fix this problem? I already downloaded...

Borrow another monitor / if the same download latest vid card drivers / install. (Check cable as well)

If it fixes it either get monitor repaired / replaced.

Dell Dimension 8300 boots up but locks up /freezes in any user area. It doesn't seem to be a hardware issue. System restore failed to resolve the problem. Prior to problem I accepted Java 6 update 18...

login via safe mode. hen run msconfig, deselect everything. reboot, then uninstall the latest pieces of software. run msconfig restore full services etc. reboot and repeat unitl resolved!

Also look at this blog post, it suggests a good tool to help speed up your computer, but also can be used to resolve issues.

Suggest you download, and install the Audio driver, for the Dell Dimension 8300.
This is Dell Support and Downloads, for the Dell Dimension 8300 Desktop PC,

I BOUGHT CHEAP RAM, EBAY, DELL DIMENSION 8300 HUMMING

This system supports ECC and non-ECC Rambus modules. ECC and non-ECC modules can be mixed but ECC feature will be disabled. Modules must be installed in pairs. multiple modules - PC800 the max is 2 GBs
systems tool...run disc clean up...put a check mark in every box, you don' need anything there as it is all copies you have elsewhere...
then defraggment also in system tools.
If you really feel like making that ole girl hum, do a complete reinstall using the latest drivers from the dell site. If you use your service tag number it will select the better drivers for your application.

go to this page for drivers (above) select your operating system (2000-ME-XP-Vista).
hope this helps you. Please leave rating

Dell 8300 screen can barely be read

I would suggest another video card, the CMOS battery would not have anything to do with the screen.

Vertical lines on LCD monitor

You have capacitor problem in power supply, if many lines then replace the bigest cap and find anymore that needs replacing. Its an AC filter problem.
