There are a few steps you can take to have this resolved. It could be a memory issue, battery issue, software issue, or a hardware issue. Start with getting rid of any un-needed sms/mms mssages. Clear call log. Any data dowloaded you don't need.
Now, do a powercycle, turning the phone off for 10 to 15 seconds. Power back on. Does it stay on longer? How strong is the battery? Did you fully charge the battery? Do you let the battery deplete completely before putting the nokia back on the charger. This is important for battery memory and life.
If this is not the answer. Do a master reset....Full Reset: (clears everything off the phone memory!! Be sure to back up your contacts!!): *#7370#
You'll wanna back up contacts using Nokia PC Suite, a free download from www.nokia.com/pcsuite for computers with Windows 2002 or higher.
We just looked at the memory and software, if this still doesn't resolve the issue. Do a battery test! Try a new batttery or your battery in another like Nokia. See where the problem follows. If the problem follows the phone, check the warranty with your carrier or with Nokia.

The default code for your Nokia when doing a master reset is 1235. IF that doesn't do it, then contact NOKIA to get your phone flashed. It'll completely wipe everything out.

When i switch on the n80 phone i get a white screen continuesley it plays the nokia theme tune then it stays white all the time

Hi the white screen is down to a problem with the connection between the screen and the circuit board, what has actually got damaged is a small thin ribbon that runs from the screen and then connects at the other end to the circuit board.

now this thin ribbon has got several single strand copper wires running through it and the idea of this ribbon is that when you open the phone this ribbon moves to keep the signal with the screen and then when you close the phone the ribbon folds back over.
after many times of opening and closing these wires inside the ribbon become brittle then eventually one or more will snap causing the white screen you are getting now.

their is no fault with the actual phone itself its this ribbon that is causing you the problem, now the good news is that this is a very common fault on nokia's and all slide and flip phones, and due to this the ribbon is really cheap to buy and wont cost much to get fitted.

your best bet would be to go to a small phone shop and not one of the big brands and ask them how much to replace the screen data ribbon, it wont cost much and they should fit it whilst you wait.

its not the kind of job you can do yourself as you need special tools to get down the back of the phone to take the cover off and not having this and using something else can and will cause more damage to the phone, this part is cheap to buy and cheap to fit so its worth getting the part replaced.
it will only take 20 to 30min for a phone shop to replace this part for you.

if you go to a big branded phone shop such as say orange or vodafone then they will take the phone off you and send it away and it will be a couple of weeks before you get it back and it will also cost 3 times more than a little phone shop, so take your phone to your nearest small phone shop and they should do this repair for next to nothing and whilst you wait.

you can still use your phone but it will be hard to know whats going on without the screen, your phone is working and after getting this part replaced you will have your phone back in full working order.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

My samsung screen is white but it works ive tried everything, this hbas happen before screen going white and the battery had to be without juice to come back. it works but ithe screeen is white

hi, the main reason the screen turns whits is due to the thin ribbon that sends the data from the circuit board to the screen being damaged what happens is that the thin copper wires that are inside the ribbon ware and then break causing a short to the screen and this is what turns the screen white. this happens on most flip and slide phones as the ribbon moves when you slide or flip the phone so over time it becomes brittle and you lose the connection and this turns the screen white.

sometimes it will right itself if you open and close the phone a couple of times but this wont be a long term fix how ever it may be that bad that this will no longer work, its not expensive to get this ribbon replaced but taking you phone to a small phone shop would be your cheapest option.
