I've noticed that the agitator on my Whirlpool Ultimate Care 2 Quiet Wash is not moving much at all. It still moves in both directions but it is very, very weak and hardly moving the clothes around. All other functions seem to be fine. Please help!
You need to remove the agitator, then pull the top half off, replace the dogs inside the cam, and re assemble it, you can find a kit online for a few dollars.

This is usually the agitator dogs have worn out or broke. These are very inexpensive and easy to replace. There is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html this will walk you thru the proper inspecting and replacement of these parts. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. Not all models are available. All parts come with installation instructions.
if the agitator barely moves, sounds as if yo have a bad set of agitator dogs, part number 80040. if you removeth agitaotr,(7/16 screw) down the center ofthe shaft. yo can removeth efabric softener dispensor by hitting with the palm of hand. after removing the agitator, it can be split in half to reveal hte "agitator dogs" easy repair problalbby about $20 and 30 min tops
The ***** part of the agitator is supposed to ratchet in the clockwise direction. this is normal. If you can spin it in either direction (turned off) then you need a set of agitator dogs.
if its a 2 piece agitator.. the gears in top of agitator is stripped out.. change gears be like new....spin top countor clockwise if it dont grap.. gears bad
