There is not a generic code or way to format your SD card. You can get a software program, costing $20.-$50.00 called "MediaWiper" to format and re-arrange your files.
If you want to save $$$, I'd suggest to contact the manufactor on "How To's" Your Mobile provider can give you this information as well. For Example, you can go to www.T-mobile.com/support in the search engine type in (your kind of phone) reformat SD card.

no that doesn't mean your card is defective. It means your phone cannot carry a 2GB memory card.some phone can carry more memory than others.so yu may need to buy a lesser memory card.

Well..i jus got a new memory card for my motorola rokr and i have been trying to format it and after i press format, it says format but when i plug it back into my phone after putting music in it, it say...

what type of memory card are you using?

on page 24 of the manual it states the following:-

phone can use a memory card with a capacity of up to 2 GB (greater than 1 GB storage guaranteed only for SanDisk
microSD cards)

If you are not using a SanDisk card and it is greater than 1G this may be the problem.

have you tried to format the card frm your PC and then add the files?

Put it in the phone go on the memory card option and select format memory card if that doesn't work then you will need a pc and a memory card reader and format it from there.
