Question about Intel D915PGN Motherboard

1 Answer

Little or no connectivity no matter what

I have a D915PGN motherboard. Yesterday I suddenly lost connectivity. I tried all the ipconfig stuff, then I swapped NICs, swapped cables, but still no connectivity. I tried 4 different NICs, I also tried a different PCI slot. Someone says it might be the motherboard. How can I isolate the problem and fix this?

I am using cable internet through a router. I have two other machines plugged into this router and they are working fine. Device manager says that everything is working fine. This machine also started running very slow recently, and about 2 weeks ago it ran scandisk on boot up and deleted a good chunk of my file on one disk. On top of that, even though it has XP Pro installed, when I tried to do a system file check, it asked for the CD. I put in the Pro CD but it won't recognize it. It says it is not the correct CD. In short, this system is the source of multiple headaches.

Just curious has this machine ever worked? Also what are the spec's for the memory you are using?

    What OS are you using?
Do you have connectivity to the internet with another machine?
Are you using cable, adsl, dial up?
Please detail the troubleshooting steps you've completed.

The first thing I would do is to check in device manager and see if the device is reporting any problem. Update the driver and see if it resolves the issue. If it still doesn't work I would assume this is a motherboard issue as you have been told.

Unable to access router wirelessly

try to reset it (there's a small button on the back you have to push with a pin)

then connect to the router (the ip is the same as the gateway when typing ipconfig in the command prompt of your computer, as soon as you have connected to it) to change ssid's, weps and other important stuff

There are capacitor that are keeping the pcie card

you will need to find another video card that fits correctly OR modify the current video card so it fits, which voids the warranty and is not recommended.

Need Motherboard Driver

Again, this is not a situation of a broken thing but stubborn resistance to search Intel and driver repository resources  (e.g.VersionTracker.) Is something wrong with http://support.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/D915GAV/ and the 'Latest Drivers' link there, http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=1673 ?   (Search for D915PGN if you need the drivers for that one instead., of course.)
