My Toshiba Satellite L15-S104 gets very hot on the bottom after being on for about only an hour. The fan on the botton is working. It gets so hot I can't have it rest on my lap.. What is causing it to run so hot.

Make sure that there is good air flow all around the laptop, including the bottom. By resting it in your lap, you may be constricting the air flow. This is one of the reasons why laptops are now called notebooks! They really don't work well on your lap. When I use my notebook, I make sure that the fans have a clear path so that I don't have this problem. Try that and see if it works. You could also use a notebook cooler. They run about 20.00, depending on the type and size.

Laptop gets hot

Check to see if the vents are clear, you may be able to remove a panel on the underside of base to give you better access to heatsink and fan where, normally dust and fluff get sucked in!

CMOS or RTC battery for this laptop : can it be replaced

Hi AshishB, Yes, Toshiba does refer to the CMOS battery in their literature as the real time clock battery. Your retailer is half right, the battery is on the motherboard but its attached via a connector and it can be replaced. Here are links to a couple of venders that sell the RTC battery for your laptop: - Http://www.sparepartswarehouse.com/Toshiba,Satellite,L15-S104,Laptop,Batteries-Backup-RTC.aspx - http://cgi.ebay.com/Toshiba-Laptop-motherboard-battery-cmos-L15-S104_W0QQitemZ170060189842QQihZ007QQcategoryZ3666QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem Let us know if you have any other questions and please don?t forget to rate the posting.
