Unable to sync after upgrading to /soft Outlook 2007
Prior to upgrading to MSoft Outlook 2007 I had no problems with hotsync but now I get this message:
This handheld is associated with a different Outlook profile. To synchronize with that profile, close Outlook and synchronize again. To use this device with the current Outlook profile, open the HotSync custom dialog and change the conduit settings to use this Outlook profile. See the Outlook conduit help for details.
and I have spent 3 days trying to work this and have failed to successfully hotsyn - I would appreciate any suggestions...

anytime you get fatal alerts you have to do more than just push the reset button. You will have to do a soft reset or possibly a hard reset,(usually the soft reset works) Google it and you will find it is quite simple to do
It sounds like the computer is noticing the USB activity (from when you hit the HotSync button) but for some reason it can't find the correct information/driver.
I'd first try a soft reset (stick a paper clip or the end of your stylus may screw off to reveal a pin, in the hole at the back of your palm) Don't worry, it won't delete your info UNLESS YOU HOLD DOWN THE POWER BUTTON (SO DON'T). Once it's booted back up, try the hotsync again.
If that doesn't work, you may need to find the usb driver for your palm and reinstall it. This could just be copying a file from disc, or reloading your Palm Software.
This is how I got it working. Don't use wireless sync software, someting is definitely buggy with it.
Here is what I did to resolve sync errors:
1. Perform a hard reset on the Palm
2. Go to the Palmone folder on your hard drive (C:\Program Files|PalmOne. Look for the Backup folder. Rename this folder Backup Old.
3. Connect the Treo to your computer.
4. Right click the Hotsync icon in the taskbar and click Custom.
Change the four Outlook conduits (Calendar, Contacts,Tasks,Memos) to Desktop overwrites Handheld.
5. Run a Hotsync with the Treo. It should sync without errors. If you need to install additional applications you can add them now
Click on the hotsync icon in your system tray and then click "custom". That will bring up the list of things you are configured to sync with (conduits). For each of the ones you have problems with, click that conduit and then make sure it's set to sync the way you want...desktop overrides, handheld overrides, syncronize, etc. Potentially you have some of them selected as "do nothing". What shows up when I click custom from hotsync are the following Outlook Conduits: Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Memos. If you don't have those showing up, you need to update your Outlook conduits on your PC. If you have them, click to select the problem conduit, then click "change" and select what you want to have happen.
Hard-reset your Palm to erase all data (that usually involves pushing the small "reset" button on the back, then pressing the "power on" button until the device boots, and then pressing "up" to confirm the hard-reset)
After that, sync your palm. The sync software will ask if you want to use your existing profile or create a new one. Create a new one. Then the program will offer to sync your Outlook profile with your Palm. Click on "ok", and a message asking you to accept to sync your Outlook data with more than one profile will pop-up. Click on OK, again... and that's it!
1. make sure Outlook is running on the PC
2. make sure hotsync is running
- right click on the hotsync icon in the system tray
- click custom
- set all the things you "want" to sync and setup the way you want them (i.e. handheld over rides PC, they both sync, etc)
3. have VersaMail configured and setup as well...that's where your Outlook mail will come from
4. Push the hotsync button on your cable/cradle
This should get you started. If I missed a step, it should be obvious in the Hotsync log, so check the log after doing a Hotsync.
