Question about Maytag Neptune MAH5500B Front Load Washer

Matag NeptuneDryer MD5500AWW - intermittent heat - not drying

Maytag Neptune MD5500AWW front load dryer - (purchased 2001) - propane

Heating works only for 5 minutes at beginning of cycle, sometimes more, sometimes less, sometimes it cycles a couple of times but not enough to dry clothes. Similar problem whether using timed dry or sense dry. Checked and cleaned exhaust vent - no problems or blockage.

If we run timed dry for 10 minutes, turn off, run again, and repeat we can get the clothes dry by using multiple cycles. But burner will not cycle throughout a complete dryer run - only the first few minutes of the cycle.

Thanks

Replaced all 5 possible sensors - moisture sensor bar, flame sensor, hi limit thermostat, thermistor temperature control, and the drying thermostat - to no avail!

Ended up being the hold coil for the gas valve solenod, 1 of 3 coils used.

This is joyce
It is as you guessed your sensor. it is usually located in door but some models are in back of machine on inside, go online download document papers go to maytag.com put in model# and then download your model # and it will show you where your sensor is located, it should be simple to replace. I had the same problem with my dryer.
I am glad you said you checked the dryer lines because if these get clogged up they will cause the dryer not to dry the clothes correctley. very smart....if you need me to help let me know.

thanks,

joyce

Dryer works but heat is gone. Any advice?

Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

I have an Maytag model # MAEDZ600TW2 Epic Z Electric dryer , the drum turns but no heat , circut breakers were checked , lint screen is clean , btw , date of purchase was 3/23/09

There are 2 common reasons your dryer will not heat.
1. Your limit switch is out on the dryer not allowing the heating element to switch on.
2. Your heating element is out.

before you try to fix this yourself it should be covered by warranty.

Maytag dryer mde9700ayw

I have the same problem--it is the heating element. Bad news is they don't make the part anymore. The solution from maytag.com is to buy a new one and they will reimburse you 15%...not a very good solution considering how much this one cost and the amount of years it has been used.
If you find a place that sells the heating element please post!

Maytag Neptune W/D (Stacked) Drying Irregularly

Mj, 90% of the time long dry times are caused by a pinched or clogged vent. Other things that could be causing this are: cycling thermostat trips too soon, if your dryer is a gas model, weak gas valve coils, drive motor centrifugal switch not allowing voltage to the gas valve or heating element. Check the harness to the motor to make sure it is on tight. Catriver...post back.
