You will need to have the print head replaced. This is a common problem with this model and Brother will cover the cost to repair it. Call Brother at 1-877-276-8437 and tell them your machine is "missing black" on all prints and copies and they will tell you what to do next.
Try to check the ink of your printer that they have more ink inside. Or els just check the printerhead of that printer its maybe that was a problem for that. If they could not print at all after this solution just change your printerhead it is because that was the problem. If your printer are using the built-in printerheat from the cartridge just replace the cartridge of what color are did not print but if your using separate printerhead of your cartridge just only replace the printerhead only.
Was it HP original, or a "generic"? Always use OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) print heads, it usually saves headache. These print heads have chips on them that keep track of usage, most "generics" are just cleaned up used OEM that are not worth the time. If you purchased an OEM you need to contact HP and have it replaced, keep you receipt of purchase for proof.
