When the system is off take the remote and press the clock function. After the system lights up press and hold the memory button on the remote. Then press preset up or down to change hour (cycle through 12 hours to change AM PM). Then press the memory button again to change to minutes and repeat.
The output amp section for your system is not designed to run more than the speakers that come with it. By adding more, you presented too low an impedence load to the amp and overheated it. This occurred too quickly for the internal protection circuits to kick in to prevent damage to the outputs. This unit will now require that the outputs be replaced. These are not the easiest units to work on, so I would not suggest that you attempt this repair yourself. Expect a parts cost in the $35 range for this repair.
turn the system off and press the clock button on the remote after the clock illuminates hold the memory button on the remote until the hour starts to blink then press the preset up or down to change ( go through 12 hours to change AM PM) then press memory to get to the minutes after setting the minutes press memory to save
The protect message indicates that the output amplifier section has a problem and the unit has shutdown to prevent further damage. This usually is caused by shorted transistors in the final output stage. In your case, the output amplifier is a single replaceable amp-pac (STK402-090S). This can be purchased from tritronicsinc.com using the Sharp part number: VHISTK4029S-1 at a cost of $63.32
This is a mechanical error. The mechanism is stuck and can not reset to a known condition. Look to see if a CD has slipped nad try to get it back in place. If that is not the case, it will need service as the mechanism is now out of timing.
I've been messing with mine because it says no disc and I messed it up so it started saying this error. Unscrew the screws around the top (4 screws) and slide off the top cover. The small black rectangular box that sits over the eye/laser can be removed carefully by compressing the clips. Then the cd tray can be removed. I figured out this error was coming up because I had the tray out of alignment... so try to see if that's the problem with yours... also the eye itself slides (the entire mechanism it's on... slides away from and towards the place where the cd sits to be lifted and read) and it should be as close as possible to the area that lifts the cd. Sorry if this isn't making sense... trying to explain in the best way possible. The tray being out of alignment causes that error though.
Try all of the spaekers on the channel you know works. If all are fine, swap the speaker lines to test them. Is the input a DVD player on RCA cables? A bad signal cable from a component can be a source for problem. Connect the speakers directly to the amp(if possible) bypassing the sub box. If all works without the box, suspect bad crossover or in the self-powered boxes a bad amp.
