Film cartage broke missing parts

To repair this camera will be well over $100; my opinion not worth it. You would be better served purchasing another camera of the same type from ebay. An alternative terrific camera is the Pentax K1000, better yet K1000 SE. The SE has a split viewfinder, easy to focus. The K1000 have microprism that are more difficult to focus with especially in lower light; need good eyes. Then there is the Pentax K2, that at the time was their top of the line camera. All three cameras can be purchased for about $100-ish. Most will come with the Pentax 50mm f/2.0 lens.

The light meter is not working on my Pentax K1000

there are three different possibilities. remove three screws, take off bottom cover. remove three screws of battery holder, lift to see if the battery wire has corroded or broken off. solve by extending wire and resoldering. the next involves removing the top cover to see if the meter coil is dead,if this is the case it needs to be replaced, or there is a broken lead somewhere. usually it is cause no. 1.

How can I remove the top cap of the winding lever for Pentax K2? This is for me to remove the top cover as the lever is a bit sticky and I would like to lubricate it

K1000: Remove counter cover (3 setscrews around perimeter), remove counter disk (screw is right threaded - turn right to remove!!!!!), washer if not glued to bottom of disk, round nut with slots (also right threaded), lift off counter base, three advance lever spring screws, turn spring until loose, remove advance lever, remove washer underneath

K2: using a rubber stopper, and downward pressure on the cap/ cover screw, turn to right (this cap screw is right threaded!!!)If you try and turn it like you would a normal screw you will break it off. If the camera has corrosion under the cap screw it may stick - try heating with a soldering iron (careful the screw cap will be very hot). In extreme cases I have drilled two holes (one on either side) and used a pair of round nose fine tip pliers to turn it.

Unsure of which model you have as both are mentioned in post

I have a Pentax k1000, and was given a few vivitar and olypus lenses. They do not fit the camera. What can I do?????

Vivitar makes lenses with a variety of mounts. Lenses with the Pentax K-mount can be used on the K1000, lenses with other mounts can not.

Olympus lenses will not mount onto a Pentax camera.

You can sell the lenses, give them to someone with the appropriate camera(s), or use them as paperweights.

The battery cover won't come off what do i do to get it off

The battery cover on a Pentax K1000 35mm SLR Camera is a little round plug on the bottom plate with a slot in it that is meant to be unscrewed with a small coin. It takes a button cell or two. I don't see how you could have any difficulty with this unless it is frozen up by heavy corrosion or something like that (which I have never seen).

Perhaps you actually meant to ask about a different camera, in which case you need to say what the make and model is.

My Pentax KX (analog) wont show apperture in viewfinder. Maybe something block the apperture window. What should i do?

There is a tiny mirror to reflect the f stops to the view finder.
Either this tiny mirror fell off or the needs adjustment.
You have to take out the top cover to have the access to this tiny mirror.

Missing battery cap

I lost the battery cap of my K1000 on vacation...I replaced the battery and taped it snugly in place with a bandaid. It hasn't budged in a year! Just find a good strong tape and tape over the battery.

My shutter is sticking; half of the picture is black

This is not a user repairable problem.

You need to take it for a professional repair. The good thing is that this is an all mechanical SLR and was designed so that repairs are usually straightforward. Spares are no longer available, but so many of these cameras were sold and are still in use today that many repairers have a few scrap examples which they can cannibalise when needed.

Given that you can buy a perfectly good used K1000 at online auction sites for between £30-£40 it may not seem like an economical repair, but newly serviced ones with a guarantee sell for over £100 so it's definitely worth it for such a superb classic SLR.

Will no longer recognize 4gb sd cards

are you sure the camera is a Pentax K1000.
the K1000 is a manual 35mm film camera, the only electronics in it are for the light meter. plus a circuit for the flash connections.

Scratched Negatives

When you say ''back'' of the film do you mean on the emulsion side or the base side. Base can take light scratches can may desapear in processing..Emulsion side is not forgiving...

Hard to tell..Anything along film path can cause scratches, including the back of the cover, film tension, aperture gate..
Hard to suggest anything precisely other than a good check up by registered Pentax rep.

I once spoted a similar problem by loading a camera with he film wounded backwards. That is emulsion facing the back of the camera and base toward the lens. Emulsion being softer, I found a spot where emusion built up (thus scratching on base side). I did not dare fixing it and sent it for repair for a good clean up.
Under proper lighting, you may also want to remove the lens and carefully look for the scratch in the aperture gate. If you see it, problem is before (feeding side).
Good luck. KX is aging but still a good camera
