Take your old ram with you when you buy the new one, also you new to know if you new duel channal memory
or parity memory
or edo or non edo ram
most of the information will be provided by the vender of the computer. hp tell you everything it is , duel channel, edo, non edo, parity and non parity memory than take the information you have on hand to fry electonics store or online to egg head.
pay alot less for the same memory they were going to charge you and arm and leg for..

I bought a new 1GB ram(DD2) when i insert it it nt work bt whenever i insert it with old 512MB ram then its work bt in bios setting only show the 1GB ram

Maybe 1GB is the maximum amount of memory that your system will hold. And maybe your system likes memory to be in pairs, so when you put the 1GB in by itself it didn't work, but when you put it in with a 512MB it works.

Hi. I'm not sure why your system board only reports 1 gb, it supports 2 gb of memory.

The only thing I can think of is it is the wrong TYPE of ddr ram.

Your motherboard only supports pc3200 and pc4300 ddr2 ram, and it must be unbuffered.
I
t's either that, or you have somehow gotten mismatched memory form Kingston...i.e. one was unbuffered and the other module was a buffered one.

I hope you get it going properly, because that is a great motherboard, with SERIOUS performance built in.
It is one of the few motherboards built to be overclocked. The only upgrade you should need is a video card, I know you have one built in, But an external video card takes the graphics load off of the processor and lets the video card due those functions, resulting in a way smoother and faster overall computer.

2G RAM's for Elitegroup (ECS) L7VMM2 Rev 1.0A Motherboard

You're board can handel; DDR SDRAM up to 200 or 266MHz DDR SDRAM memory module. Accommodates two "unbuffered", 2.5V 184-pin slots. Each slot supports up to 1 GB with a total maximum capacity of 2 GB. Return the Kingston memory you have installed if it is less than a year old. They should allow you to trade up to the MB's supported memory.
Two reach the MB's max memmory of 2GB. Buy two Kingston DIMMS of, "unbuffered", 2.5V 184-pin
DIMMs. Here is one site that sells Kingston memory;

If you decide to search for you're self, use this as the basis for the correct model: Module - KVR266X64C2

2G Memory Upgrade

I had similar problem with CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory

If this is your RAM:
Corsair 1024MB Value Select PC2-4200 (533MHz) DDR2 RAM, 128Mx64non-ECC, 240-pin DIMM, Unbuffered, CL4, Lifetime warranty (VS1GB533D2) Then it is high density. You need low density to work, look for one ending with an 8, not 64.

Installed new RAM, PC would not boot up.

Will the PC boot? It may just be loose. Try it again. The PC may not boot if it does'nt recognize the memory.

Upgrade of ram

Your board Support 168-pin SDRAM DIMM and 184-pin DDR DIMM (Can't Use DIMM & DDR SDRAM memory Together).
I would run the 184-pin DDR. Supports PC1600/PC2100 DDR DRAM up to 2BG Max. Since you have four memory slots 2x512mb of DDR PC2100 = 1GB would be plenty. You will notice programs load faster & games run smoother. Personally, 2Gb. may help but you will not see the difference. To see a difference it is not all about memory. Mb bus speed, CPU, chipset & speed of video memory all play a part with regards to Pc overall speed. You can download your manual here.: http://www.jetway.com.tw/oldweb/evisn/download/manual/index1.htm
You can download the specs of your board here.:
http://www.jetway.com.tw/oldweb/evisn/product/amd/v266b/v266b.htm
And below is a link for some good ram.:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=302039&CatId=548
This should all help you decide, best wishes!

RAM upgrate

you can upgrade to a max of 2gb on that board. These are your 1gb options: 1GB PC2700 333MHz DDR Memory, 1GB PC2100 266MHz DDR Memory, and 1GB PC3200 400MHz Non-ECC Unbuffered 184-pin DDR DIMM Memory. Install a set of any of these and your off and running.
