Paul, will your computer is on, close all applications, go to a blank area on your desktop (where there are no icons or shortcuts) and Right-click, a drop-down menu appears, go down to Properties, a window will open, across the top of the window go to the "Settings" tab, then at the botton right click on the 'Advanced' button.
Now, here is were it can differe from machine to machine - the tabs across the top normally will have an Adapter tab and maybe a specific tab to the video card in your computer. At first I would click on the Adapter tab and in here you may find a setting for rotating the monitor image for Portrait or Landscape, or there may be another button like 'Properties' that will take you further into the video adapter settings and in there you may find the rotate settings.

After dropping the mouse the screen turned 90 degrees counterclockwise

Probably not the monitor but a software issue. Depending on what OS/graphics driver you use you can rotate the screen. I would need to do is find the setting and rotate it back to normal. For instance if you are using XP and integrated intel graphics you can right click anywhere on the desktop area, left click on graphic options and rotate 90, 180, or 270 degrees. If you run NVIDIA you can right click on your desktop area and click on NIVIDIA control panel. From there find rotation settings and choose what you need to return your display to normal.

HP 1740 screen image rotated 90 degrees - how to move back

Hello,

On most video cards the key combinations of ctrl+alt+left arrow, ctrl+alt+right arrow, ctrl+alt+up arrow or ctrl+alt+down arrow will allow you to rotate the screen display in any direction. Each key combination will rotate the screen in the direction of the key press.

I hope this helps, If so please rate our solution.

Screen orientation

Good morning pimelles, Somewhere on your PC there is a program that is capable of rotating your screen through a key combination. I?ve read some accounts that claim this feature is built into Windows XP but I think it is only included on the tablet version of Windows. At any rate the typical combination is holding the ?Ctrl? and ?Alt? keys down and pressing the up arrow key. That should return your screen to the normal orientation. If that doesn?t work let us know your video card manufacturers model number and please don?t forget to rate the posting.

Many graphic cards enable you to rotate the screen up to 360 degrees. You could try to post this question again under you graphic card model instead of computer screen model as it is your graphic card that is certainly the problem.
