It may be a hard disk loose connection problem. I also had the same problem. Just try to open the cabinet and check if the SATA connector is loose. If loose then tight it and try to reinstall the XP.
If not solved, then I assume it is a virus problem.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Removing the battery is a last ditch move; if you have it hang again, press and hold the power button for ~10 seconds. This will shut down nearly any PC. Restarting the system should shock Windows into repairing the damage to files left screwed up by CA. Some stubborn software may need to be reinstalled and removed again since many programs tinker with registries and other files.

Due to c00002la fatal system error problem I am unable to shut down.

Hi,

Shut down your PC by pressing restart button then immediately shutdown button, Next time when you start your PC, press F8 during startup before the window logo comes up, and choose "last configuration that worked". If the last known good configuration does not work you may have to reinstall the operating system. Visit this link to resolve this error.

Thanks..!!

I'd like to help you, but it is very difficult to diagnose based on your description. We will need to gather more info as we try a few things.
1. Why are you reinstalling? 2. How old is the system? 3. Try the following & let me know the result: turn system back on. When the normal LED indicators are on, press & hold down the power button for 4+ seconds until everything goes off. 4. If step 3 worked, then turn power on & hit bios setup key (f2?). 5. See if HDD is detected.

My acer aspire 4315 hangs during shutdown. windows XP OS

Hi,

This happens when there is a process still trying to work in the back end.

Try to disable most of the applications which get opened by default when windows starts.

Click on start/run/ and type msconfig. Once the window comes up click on start up tab and disable all.

Now try to reboot the system.

Also hope there is no usb device connected at the time of shut down. This would also make xp hang.

Thanks

Hi,
As far as Free Antivirus is concerned, you can download Avira from http://www.free-av.com/ It has the highest detection rates & also extremely light on the system.

Dll driving me nuts

Hello EricS777

The part where it looks like your xp stuff and vista stuff switch drives is normal. Only the Operating System associates the hard drives by letters this does not mean your hard drive files are switching. This happens because D: drive is Root of Vista OS and Root of any OS in windows gets the C: drive lettering.

dwwin.exe, drwtsn.exe dll is the "Microsoft Application Error Reporting" tool.

I think the message means that something is crashing during system shutdown. When the crash occurs the OS launches dwwin.exe to report the error, however the windows operating system is shutting down and so the application can't launch make the system lockup or hang.

Your problem isn't with dwwin.exe, you need to find out what is actually crashing at shutdown.

If you can`t find out what it is, try going to Administrative Tools/Services and disable the “Error Reporting Service”. You don`t want that running anyway.

Also right click My Computer/Properties/Advanced/Error Reporting
Put a check at both
Disable Error Reporting
But notify me when critical errors occur

Then, if that was the cause and the message stops, we`ll have to try to identify the cause.

Windows XP not shutting down.

hi im josh in cebu phils. Friend it is just a simple problem not to be worried of. Actually is not a hang up problem it will shutdown but it takes time.a delayed time or longer time it was set. All you have to do is to go to bios/cmos setup. restart your pc then press f2 if it ask to enter setup or mostly hit del to enter setup. once you have entered the setup you choose the power management then adjust the power off delayed to shorter mins. or you can choose direct off.just select what you want there.it will solve your proble and dont forget to save before you exit so that it will be applied to your pc. hope i helped you good luck!
