I have a Cobra Marine Mr F75 that is stuck on channel 4 and will not change channels on the radio or by using the handheld reciever??

Try resetting the radio per the user manual by doing a setup procedure as described on page 28. This may clear up the problem. User manual here: https://www.cobra.com/sites/default/files/manuals/MRF75D%20-%20ENGLISH_0.pdf

My Standard Horizon HX850S is not receiving on any channels. GPS works fine. Transmission is fine as well. Thank you so much for your help. MO

Hi Marius,

Not being a nautical person, I can't give you any advice with the following exception: join yahoo group SPECIFIC to your radio Make/Model, they will send you all the info required, plus you can download manuals, diagrams and other goodies.

I hope this helps you.

Cheers,
Peter

W do I turn off squelch control on a digitech DC-1065 marine radio hand held 5 Watt

Hi David,

Before I try to give advice, I need more info.

I possess a Digitech DC1065 UHF 80 Channel CB hand held, so there seems to be some confusion here.

I live near Perth, Western Australia.

Firstly, How many channels does your radio have?

If the answer is 80, then what you have is a UHF CB, not a marine band radio.

Marine band is VHF with 87 Channels, in Australia that is, and the default channel is always 16.

Digitech are an Australian radio manufacturer, so you'll get great backup service.

If your radio is not defaulting to Ch16, then I am right about it being a UHF CB.

Therefore, it is useless for VHF anything, let alone Marine band.

I'm almost 100% sure this is a UHF CB in your possession.

Try this to prove me right please.

Reply to me with your Country and nearest city, I'll then be able to find a solution for you real quick, though I believe I already have.

Looking forward to your response.

Regards,
Peter

Radio not receiving on any channel

Hi Mike,

The manual for this radio (in Adobe .pdf format) is available for download directly from Icom America, free of charges.

Since the "AquaQuake" function works and you do hear static when the squelch is off, that is sufficient to let us know that the voice coil of the speaker is functional and should produce sounds with the right signal applied.

The first thing to determine is if you're close enough to another operating transmitter for the radio to receive a signal. One of the 10 weather channels the radio is capable of tuning should be close enough produce some intelligible audio from the speaker - assuming the squelch setting isn't set too high.

If a WX channel works, then you'll need to see if there's a VHF Marine band transmitter operating nearby. You might need to set another Marine band radio receiver up to verify that there is indeed a signal present on the particular Marine band channel that you're monitoring. A list of frequencies is published on pg 27 (of the manual linked above) in case you need to convert between channel and frequency to tune on a non-channelized radio.

Outside of that, there's little the end user can do without specialized test equipment, schematics and of course, training. Many shops will be happy to provide an estimate for repair when provided with a small bench diagnostic fee. This fee is usually applied towards an authorized repair by most reputable repair shops.

I hope this helps & good luck!

How do I program a Midland GXT760VP4

After installing and charging the battery pack (or installing alkaline batteries), turn on the radio by turning . Then press Menu once to set your Channel. Press Menu additional times to set other features. To set the channel to listen to Weather Radio, continue pressing Menu to the Weather Channel sub-menu (Channel 1 is 162.400 MHz). If you press and hold Menu for more than 5 seconds with the radio in GMRS mode, the radio will scan all 10 weather radio channels.

Midland has the manuals to many of their products here: http://www.midlandradio.com/Two-Way-Owner-Manual . The direct link to the manual is http://www.midlandradio.com/Resource_/OwnerManual/201/GXT760%20Owner%27s%20Manual%20.pdf .

Please let me know if there is a specific item you want to set up on the GXT760VP4.

I have a Raymarine VHF marine radio but cannot get channel 37 - why not?

Hi,

To my knowledge, Ch 37 (M1) is used by the UK Marinas and Yacht Clubs, however, the Raymarine Ray45VHF uses the US VHF Marine Radio Channels allocations/standard where there is no Ch 37 (actually no Chs 29-59).

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa
