Question about Lexmark Printers & Copiers

My computer jammed so I switched the computer off, the machine wouldn't let me log out I had to switch it off at the power point. When I did this I didn't check if the printer was on and it was on scanning, since then I have not been able to scan it keeps giving me a message cannot retrieve application. Could you please help me with this problem as I do not know what to do.

I had the same problem,but I was running win 95. How I fixed this is unplug the printer from the computer, and unplug the power cord to the printer. After 5 min try plugging back in. Hope this helps.

You need to download updated drivers, do the following:

Click here:Official Lexmark Drivers and Software

A web page will open, follow instructions, select model, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
After downloading, find the file,double click on the file ,then if you get in troubles, follow the instructions below to reset and reinstall drivers:

  • Unplug printer USB.
  • Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
  • Download driver from website, and run the install file.
  • Follow driver installation wizard.
  • Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.

Reinstall the printer driver and then restart it will solve your problem.

Step 1: Remove all the paper that is jammed in the machine. Follow the steps on the touch screen to locate the jammed paper.
Step 2: Turn off the copier with the power rocker switch on the right side.
Step 3: Hold down the 8 and 0 on the numeric keypad while turning the machine back on.
Step 4: Enter 400 on the numeric keypad and then press the Start (copy) button. As you type the 400 will show up in place of the D

Must have Engine (fatal) and Jam Error logs display on the Control Panel or listed on ..... 041. paper jam. switch off the printer, remove its cartridge, look for paper jam or piece of paper jam in the rollers, clean it, place cartilage properly, switch ON the printer. it will work.

Hi Camru, I wondering if the jam light is on at power up before data is sent to your machine or if it occurs after a print job is sent to it?

If it is on constant ie before a print is sent to it, then we have a sensor or paper detect switch activated. If this is the case then it can be a piece of paper or a remaining fragment of paper holding down the switch or the switch arm itself is broken or its corresponding light sencing photocell is covered in toner/dust.

In Printers there are a number of these sensors in the paper path, generally we have one that detects paper at cassette and bypass position, another at registration roller another at fuser exit, the machine monitiors these switchs for activation to tell if a jam is present. These switchs are tiny plastic arms that get pushed down when paper passes them which in turn blocks the photocell sencing light. One normally finds fragments of paper sticking the arm down, or the arm broken, most of the time the printer also tells us jam position so we know which switch it is seeing a jam condition at. Check the switch operation by looking for them, and ensuring the arm is moving freely.

The other possibility is the machine with no data present shows no error but a error occurs when a print job is sent to it. If this is the case it is caused usally by incorrect paper size settings in printer paper size menu or the printer drivers paper size settings on installed driver in printers under control panel of computer, It can also be caused if the paper is feeding multi sheets from cassete due to dirty rubber rollers in printer itself or not picking paper from tray at all as the feed roller is slipping on paper in tray due to losing its grippyness.

I clean feed rollers with water, just slightly damp rag and rub the rubber surface of the feed roller, sometimes they are so worn they need replacing, I will post a pic for you and also here is the service manual of a machine pretty much the same as yours.

This is another uses post on how he fixed his, please note this will be the same as yours only if jam only occurs after data is sent to your machine.

Rec paper jam is shown on the machine but we can't find a paper jam any where. Our machine is a Canon Laser Class 8500. Any suggestions?


Open and close all doors and trays, making sure that there are no jams, and that nothing is caught in the paper feeder. Unplug the machine, and press the power switch for at least 5 seconds. Plug the machine back in and power up.

I have a Ricoh Aficio 2045 and whenever i try to copy double sided the paper jams in the copier but is fine when copying single sided. It always Jams at Point C in the photocopier?? Can anyone help me??


This jam problems are always very difficult to solve without seeing the machine!
Because i need to see the jam location or take a report to see where the paper jams.
you say that it is on the Point C, but that just helps a little.
I can tell you that you have a problem in the duplex door (but you already know that). It could be several things like; transport rollers, gates, solenoids... well, the best help i can give you is to advise you to call your technical support.

I had a paper jam. Got the paper out, but now


Some printers won't reset the jam condition until you open a specific door or cover -- even if you've gotten the jam out, they think it's still there until you open that cover. Try opening and closing all of the machines doors and access points, and even pull out the paper tray and push it back in.

If the jam condition still isn't cleared, turn the machine off and back on with the main power switch.

Dell all in one 942 ink jet printer reads "clear paper jam" there is no paper stuck. How do I fix?


Try this; Remove the cartridges, disconnect the usb cable, turn off the machine, unplug the power chord and switch off the adaptor from the wall switch, leave the machine for few minutes while you do some cleaning, like cartridges contact points, clean the rear panel door, also open the front panel door and check for any foreign particles, you should remember that even a small/tiny piece of thread or hair can create this problem. Now connect the power chord, switch on the wall switch, and power on the printer without the cartridges installed and the usb cable connected. Use the Power Button the switch on the printer. Leave it Switched On for few minutes and again turn it off, install the cartridges, connect the usb cable and again reboot the unit. Press the power button once and again keep pressing when it starts booting. If the problem still persists, your printer needs service.

It says "Close Front Cover" but the cover is closed. I had cleared out a jam yesterday, but can't find any remaining paper inside.


Check the point where the door meets the switch on the front of the machine make sure nothing is blocking the switch and that the switch get pushed in while the cover is closing

How to clear c-0204


C0204 - Tray 2 Elevator failure - The Lift-Up Sensor is not blocked even after the lapse of a given period of time after the lifting motion has been started.

1. Turn OFF the Main Power Switch.
2. Turn Main Power Switch ON while pressing the Utility/Counter key.
3. Touch [Trouble Reset].
4. Check to make sure that [OK] is displayed and the it has been reset.
5. After turning off the Main Power Switch, turn it on again more than 10 seconds after and check if the machine starts correctly.

Reset your Toners and Imaging units for Minolta Bizhub and CF series.

Paper Jam light on, but no paper jam


A piece of paper torn from copy paper is caught around registration switch, exit switch or feedshift switch.
so check theme.
