1 - you have to have the tray all the way down
2 - you have to do carpet in segments of about 4X6 or foam will just get absorbed by carpet
3 - carpet may be too old and dirty so it breaks up the foam very quickly
Do not expect to pick up 100% of what you put in. If you get 30-40% out - GREAT.
When drying shampoo does not led the dirt stick back to the fibers so this is why it is recommended to vacuum after carpet dries.
