I have provided a link to the manual (requires Adobe Reader to read)
On page 15 it gives you a layout of the pins and tells you exactly what goes where.

Where to fix the power switch, power led and HDD led

There will be a set up pins pointing up from the mother board - usually along one edge, and the cable you have that come from the switches / LEDs on the front panel will fall in the general direction of those pins. If you look very carefully at the writing next to those pins you will see words like PW = power switch, HD LED = Hard Drive LED lights, SP = speaker and so on. You really should visit the motherboard manufactures web site, find your board and download the manual which will show you as well as tell you how to connect up the wires. LET this be a lesson to you! Write down or draw a picture BEFORE you start pulling wires out!

Page 8 shows you the Motherboard Components.

Panel 2 is the Front Panel header.

(Connector on motherboard is a Header. The Front Panel, is the plastic panel in front of your computer tower. Has the LED lights, Power On switch, and so on.)

Panel 2 connections are shown on Page 15.

Should you not be able to download this manual, I will detail out the connections for the Panel 2 header.

Orient the motherboard, so we are both looking at it the same way.

Processor is at the Top.
Ram Memory slots are to the Right.
Panel 2 is to the right of the CMOS battery, real close to the outside of the motherboard.
It is right below the IDE 1 header for the Harddrive.

The Panel 2 header is made up of 2 rows.
One down the Left side.
One down the Right side.

The pins in the header are numbered.

Starting at the Top, going down the Left side.
Pins 10, 8, 6, 4, and 2.
There is NO Pin 10. Just a blank spot.

Starting at the Top, going down the Right side.
Pins 9, 7, 5, 3, and 1.

Pin 9 has No Connection

Pins 6 and 8 are for the Power On switch.

Pins 2 and 4 are for the Green LED light.

Pins 1 and 3 are for the Harddrive light.
(Harddrive activity light. Pin 1 is for the + side of the light)

Pins 5 and 7 are for the Reset switch.

Motherboard Pinout - Please Help

here are some sites that may help you.
all these should be marked power switch may say pw,prs,ps, power led may say pld, pl,led, hhd say hd, reset switch maysay rs, set, these connection will be grouped together, and pin layout 1 red or hot wire, or the main wire for the device you are trying to operate.

the connections to the back plate is standard the amount of pins match up the cable, the number 1 pin will be marked some how and or the cable will only be able to plug in one way.
with an exception if you are using serial connector and we hardly use them. the rules are the same as above, and plug ins maybe one way also.

the ribbon type will have a marking on the cable or ribbin line or dots or hasshs marks that is pin #1
match with pin out on motherboard pin1 or pin 0,

If the wires from the reset switch is white/blue the blue wire is positive, Hdd red/white red is positive power Green/white Green is positive etc. The wires on the speaker connector will be red/black/black/white - red is positive. The colored wire is always positive. On all GA mb's the positive connection is always towards the back of the MB and are marked with a + on the base of the pin as you can see on the photo. Hope this help.
