Power problem with infocus lp70+ projector

The light from my infocus lp70+ projector flickers kind of like a regular bulb that's going bad, the unit turn off by itself after a few minutes and will not turn on for a few hours afterwards.Since I have been able to turn it on briefly from time to time, I know the bulb is still good. What is wrong with this machine? any help would be appreciated.

I have not reset the the lamp hours, I only have about 900 hours on it and the manual says the lifetime of the lamp is about 3000 hours.
Should i still reset it? Providing the projector stays on long enough to let me get to the menu (somtimes there is not enough time).

If you have replaced its Lamp (bulb) please rest Lamp hours in projector Menu immediately.
Lamp Hours reset procedure is written in user manual.

You should reset lamp hours in case lamp is just replaced. I think projector has problem with ballast lamp supply so turning off immediately.
Qualified service tech will fix it properly as its not seems home fix.

I think it is the time to remove the cover and check for air filters blocked with dust.
When this happens, air doesn't flow freely through the projector and result in overheating, which leads to automatic shutdown.

LP70 appears to be stuck in standby mode. The orange light illuminates immediately when the power is turned on. The bulb was just replaced.

the power supply needs to be upgraded which involves soldering a wire to the power supply then to the main board.

if you don't hear a high-pitched whir, your colorwheel needs replacing. you can remove the lamp and see the colorwheel inside (colored glass wheel). if you turn it on without the lamp, the colorwheel should still spin. if it does, you have a ballast problem. if not, the colorwheel. you'd still need to send it in to an infocus authorized service center. try av solutions in ny. they're pretty good.

InFocus LP70 projector is running hot

clean the dust out of it with canned air. the dust keeps in the heat that the projector is trying to expell. it also shortens the life of the lamp.

Have you tried another lamp? Sometimes thats your problem, but I've seen a several occasions that the a defective power supply causes this symptom. Do you see an image flicker before the projector shutsdown? I do have some spare parts for this projector.

I'm on Ebay - gtitubro if you want to contact me through there.

Lp70 flickers and color wheel chirps at the same time. It's worse with more white in the image. Colored screen shots or dark movies have limited flickering. No issues prior to hookup to computer (Infocus...

it's chirping because it's trying to keep in sync with the dmd chip. for the refresh rate, go into the menu and first reset the settings to factory default. if this doesn't clear it up, try matching the signal.

the colorwheel needs replacing. in order for the lamp to strike and stay on, the colorwheel has to stay at a certain speed to sync with the dlp. if the speed is off, the lamp won't stay on.

In focus 70+ light flickers

I have the exact same problem, it comes and goes, but i noticed that the screen was flickering more when the projector was tilted up a bit.
I shifted the cable from s-vhs to vga and now i dont have this problem so often anymore.

I also have the common problem that it sometimes wont start up when i power it on, or it shut down after a few seconds. It seems to be a loose wire somewhere, but i just give it a punch and then it starts..

Why does picture brightness change up and down on LP70.

Hi there

Sounds like the lamp is going , but it could be the Ballast as well ( lamp's powersupply ) Rather have a certified technician look at.
