I was going to post the same solution as wayneard, until I opened this topic and had a look.

More than likely this is your problem.

First thing I would suggest is to double-click the volume control on your taskbar (the little speaker) and see if any of the items has the Balance moved to one side. if so, slide it (all) to the center.

What is causing humming sound in headphones?

Well, there are a couple things in the troubleshooting process you may want to check first. If Possible,
1. Have you tried a different pair of headphones thru the same jack?, Is it buzzing as well? Then its not the headphones. If the buzzing stops with a different pair, then we proceed to to headphones in question.

so , headphones are buzzing. Both sides? if yes , or even 1-side, then yes, it is a ground issue. can you expose the wiring at the input jack?
Basically, you want to put an ohm meter on each wire and independently check each wire for continuity. check for any breaks in the line, and or check to see if a wire is crossing over to ground via a break. so check each line to itself, then each line to each other.
if you fo not understand on the process of using an ohm meter? you can go to this You Tube link and it will give you a general understanding.
hopefully this gives you a little insight? If not?, ask the question again, and also include the make & model of the headphone set. that always helps;m Thanks,
Good luck.!!

I can hear audio from out side of my headphones

They are semi closed headphones, you can get closed type that keep the sound inside the headphones but these are not like this.
You need a different pair of headphones to suit this purpose.

Mine is a bit older (2yrs), but I have exactly the same problem. Absolutely no sound from the headphones (no beeps). I also tried new batteries, but still nothing.

If you have a solution, let me know!

Only hearing sound out of left side of headphones

i think the problem is in the jack of your sound blaster. since you have already tried different headphones and the problem still persist, and when you use speakers it works fine. i conclude it is the jack of your sound blaster card.

Headphones only have left channel on Denon AVR-588 Receiver

Hi peroty,

Two suggestions for you.

1. If you look at the headphone jack connecton do you see one or two black O-rings or black lines on the jack. If you only see one they are Mono headphones and you would only get sound out of the left side. If there are two black lines they are stereo headphones and you should get sound on both the left & right sides.

2. If after checking the headphone jack connection and there are two black lines on it then I would suggest try a different pair of headphones to see if a different set of headphones works fine.

If a different pair of headphones works properly the original headphones may be bad. If neither set of headphones work properly it may be the reciever that may need to be repaired.

I hope it's not the receiver, but let me know if you have questions.

I hear more from my right side of my ipod with headphones

There is 2 possible reasons this is happening, 1 is that you have better hearing in your right ear or it's possible that your headphones are tangled and if they are the sound waves will not come through fully.

Jack

sounds like the headphone socket is faulty. one of the channels could have a stray wire bridging it across to the earth connection. this would also explain the pause, as it would create a short circuit within the electronics.

sugest you take it back to the shop and complain.

Are the lights on the side on? If not try the little switch on the side of the in line remote, also they need to be plugged into the soundcard&USB.

Less sound on one ear than the other

Yeah, based on all of your problems, i would safely say that you have a blown speaker. Call up Bose at 1-800-999-2673. If the headphones are under warranty (1 year) they will replace them for free. If now, they will charge you $100 for a replacement pair, which is quite a deal considering that the headphones cost $300.
