The usual cause for that is that the headphone jack is loose or the connectors are loose inside the unit and therefore not keeping complete contact with the headphone piece. It can be repaired but would probably be cheaper to get a new MP3 if that is the sansa one.

Replacing minijack

I use a multimeter to check the connections to the ear pieces. I set it to the diode function. The meter's test probes also have a very low dc voltage and this causes a 'click' sound in the working earpiece. Some earphones have 3 wires, others have 4 wires. In the 3-wire setup, one wire is the common wire. It goes to the ground connection of the mini plug. The 'click' sound on the left ear piece should go to the tip of the connector. The 'click' sound that you get on the right ear piece should be soldered to the 'ring' of the mini plug. The 4-wire type of earphone/ headphones cable usually have two wires that are the same colour. These are the ground or common connections for both right and left. I hope that this helps. A multimeter or vom is a necessity. Len.

I cant hear the caller in normal mode, I can if I turn on the loud speaker, Any ideas whats wrong?

Try the following: Press -> * <- <- * <- * ("->" is a right arrow key on your joystick) You can test your earphone from this menu, scroll down and click "earphone" and try changing volume. If you hear nothing, than your earphone is dead and it needs to be replaced.

My mobile is nokia 3110classic.suddenly i got a sound problem.i cn't hear sounds outside.but am ble hear them through ear phones.i.e am unable hear songs as wells am not able to hear my ring tone...

The problem is with your "Ringer" (the bigger speaker). If you can hear the sound through your ear piece, then replacing the Ringer/Speaker will definitely fix your problem. I would suggest to get it done from a service center or from a mobile repairing shop.
Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

My ipod crackles and my hearing seems to be getting damaged

Id say you should go see a doctor. But for now id say that you should do your best to not listen to it for a while as it can affect hearing. try to use full on speakers if you can. On you tube there are a few Sub-Woofer sound tests you can do. Try playing one (low volume) and repeat. (not a song one)

http://www.teenbuzz.org/ also to hear which frequencies are out of range to you click here. ( click the second icon on the list further down the page)

But yeah go see a doctor. Perhaps some ear drops.

Cant hear my music through ear piece

Well, check out if the problem is in the earphones itself or in the phone, install other ear-phones, if they work the problem were in your ear-phones if it still not working then you have problem in the fuses or the cable of the ear-phones not reaching to the phone ear-phones fuses.

Cant hear out of one side of earpiece

have you tried using differnt earphones? if the problem is still the same with different earphones then it's the ipod itself that has a problem, you'll have to get it fixed.

Only one earphone (right) is working

The problem is in the ear-phones, not the player. Return the phones via warantee if available. You should be able to wiggle the cord at various places along the cord to find out where the short is. (One of my sansa's phones had a short close to the plug itself.) If you know how to perform basic wire splicing/sodering, and melt a piece of shrink tubing (from Radio Shack) over the splice, you can fix this yourself. The sansa phones I have are real good, and worth saving, however don't be afraid to buy some really good ear-phones (over $50) if you cant fix the cord.
