Question about Kenmore 73952 Gas Dryer

1 Answer

Belt replacement I have a 70 series dryer I just took apart and found the belt broken. First question is how do I find out which 70 series model I have or are the belt assy. all the same. Second question is I found a part laying in the bottom that looks like a tension assy. for the belt only it has no wheels. I don't know if it is broken or if it is proper for this model dryer. If possible if you have a breakdown of the belt assy. that I can read it would be awesome. Ty.

Hello, look on your unit and find the model number. It should be on a
tag on the back of your unit. Post the number and I'll get you your
    info.

Take the belt with you to an appliance store and they will match it up. Much like a fan belt on a car. You won't necessarily need the model if you have the belt. Next, it sounds like your assembly is broken. If this assembly looks to be in pieces, you may need a new one.

THE DRYER SQUELS WHEN DRYING. iT SOUNDS LIKE METAL RUBBING. i TOOK OFF THE TOP AND FRONT COVER AND FOUND A BROKEN PLASTIC WHITE SPACER IN THE BOTTOM ( APPOX. 1 X 3 INCHES. SHOULD THIS BE REPLACED ON...

sounds like the glides but these are what usually causes that metal to metal sound:
drum rollers, drum glides or belt idler assembly, all these items can be found on eBay. Since you have had the dryer apart all you have to do is remove the belt and drum and the rollers are on the back. note the routing of the belt, the idler assemblage is next to the motor. this website shows the rollers/glides, hope this helped Tim:

Motor runs but drum doesnt spin

The belt may have broken, you must open the dryer case and check the belt. If broken, you'll see it laying on the bottom

It may be too late for you, but here it is. I had the same problem, took the dryer apart, and found that one of the rollers was broken. There are two plastic rollers at the bottom rear of the unit. Call around to local parts stores to see if they have this part. It's easy to fix, just takes all day because you have to completely dissasemble the dryer.
