Question about Panasonic PT-40LC12 40" Rear Projection HDTV
I have a 68cm Audiosonic KMCTH68, having turned the set on and watching happily, after 2-3 ,mins the set turns itself off and remains on standby.
I am then unable to get the set to turn back on for at least an hour with just the standby light on. I can hear a slight ticking noise coming from the back of the set but no smell of burning or heat to indicate over heating.
Please anyone know what the problem is? :(\
CHEAP TV VIDEO REPAIRS
Can't be 100% sure but the most likely cause of the problem is bad solder connections in the switch mode power supply or on the vertical output IC, or anywhere on the main or picture tube circuit boards, due to age and switching on and off TV's develop bad solder connections when cold the connection is made and when it warms up due to heat expansion the connection breaks, you will need to be handy with a soldering iron, and discharge all power supplies with something like a 100 Watt globe before soldering or you may blow things up and do really serious damage, and be warned TV 's have very high voltages 360 volts DC in the SMPS primary and over 20,000 volts to the picture tube, so be careful.
