Most likely the bulb has blown, often they will actually shatter which can sound like a large popping sound

Panasonic big screen TV will not turn on. I need to know what part to order

The power supply board is the most likely failure. What is the vintage of the TV?
It may be possible to repair the TV by replacing possible failed capacitors, or you could replace the entire board.

Sounds like the flyback went out. Your set is a CTC195 you can get a replacement flyback for it at the following link. They also provide free instalation instructions and free on line tech support.

Posterized!

Try 2 different signal sources, such as cable and DVD or Dish and DVD or Cable and vcr. If the same problem exists on both sources then the TV needs a circuit board.
I would like a discription of "posterized" to help you more.

Dead tv

Sounds like a power supply problem. I am sure that the pop is the fuse blown. If the fuse is blown, this means that there is a short somewhere. Rear projection TV are like LCD projectors. And all of them use Switch mode power supply. If you are lucky, there is a chance that a protection device (like a varistor) is sorted. This means that removing this, even without replacing will bring your TV to life, however... Most probably the power supply is defective.
