Trouble playing DVDs and blurays

Sometimes my bluray/DVD player works just fine. But sometimes, I put a disk in and I hear it spinning very loudly and my player software (I have both VLC and PowerDVD) just seem to load indefinitely. If I pop the disk out and reinsert it sometimes this fixes things, but I'm just wondering what I'm doing wrong in the first place or why it keeps acting up

You are not doing anything wrong - your player is in its ***** throes and soon it will stop reading all disks all the time.. Start saving some money for a replacement.

SOURCE: My DVD/CDROM is acting funny. DVDs play fine, CDs

1. Try to gently clean pickup lens with q tip and 70% or lower alcohol or vodka. Don't push down.
If didn't help:
2. Compressed air (gently) around pickup lens.
DON'T do a short bursts. Just press, hold and move around the lens.

SOURCE: DVD stuck, computer won't turn back on

If you look at the door of the CD/DVD tray/shelf, you should see a little hole. Stick a paper clip into the hole and it will pop out the CD/DVD tray/shelf and you can get your DVD back. I would call Gateway support to fix the rest of it. If it is still under warranty, they can send out a tech to fix it.

SOURCE: Movie 2012 BluRay loads menu but won't play on

Sony releases new firmware for the bdp-s350 ever so often to let it play newer movies. The last one can be downloaded from here firmware. Be sure to contact Sony with any problems so they can work on it for the next firmware. They are pretty good about updates as long as we let them know of any problems we are having.

If you are continuing to have problems let me know by sending me a message in the comments and I will go from there. I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Take it easy and hope I helped.

My Samsung smart tv & my dvd/bluray player recorder I bought at same time. Haven't had blurays til now & wont play at all. Rental ones did now I've bought my own & they don't play! Not tech minded.HELP

Each DVD player is assigned a code for the region in which it's sold. For example USA/Canada are Region 1 players. DVD players will refuse to play discs not coded for its specific region. In effect, this means that a DVD purchased in one country is normally unreadable on a DVD player bought in another region.

If your rental DVDs work in the player then there is nothing wrong with your DVD player. If you have purchased DVDs that do not work the problem is with the DVDs you have, not with the DVD player.

Hello, i have a dvd sanyo dvw-7100 but I can not play a blu-ray dvd. Please what I can do?

The dvd player is not made to play bluray dvds. You need to buy a bluray player. They do not make a bluray vcr combo. Hope this helps.

Hi just got a second hand bush blu ray player, plays normal DVDs but won't play blu rays! Can you help? Thanks Jez

There should be nothing special about playing the different DVDs. Putting in a normal DVD compared to a BluRay should not require you to do anything different.

Look at the front of the DVD player and look for the BluRay logo. If you do not see it on the front of the DVD player then you do not have a BluRay player.

When a bluray disk is stopped the player does not resume where it left off like a dvd it starts from the beginning of the disk

Hi there, this is a problem with ALL Bluray players, it is an annoying format problem, where "resume play "is not available on JAVA enabled Blurays, (BD-J).

JAVA content is usually the interactive menus and extra features on specific Blurays. These are essentially computer programs, so when you close them and re-open them they open from the beginning, (Just like on your computer, when you close a program).

All standard DVD's and non BD-J discs will resume play as expected, this is why some people think there is an intermittent fault, and others say that there model of player is working fine. Hope this helps.

My bluray player is a sony have owned it for 2 years but have primarily only played dvd's on it and have had no problems with it working on all types of discs. However recently I purchsed some bluray discs...

Lens cleaner disk works but it is a cd, which does not heat up a bluRay circuit. DVD too does not heat up the circuit. BluRay disks are denser in data(30gB) and runs closer to the lens, so reading disks is more critical. And some movies may heat up the circuit to freeze the functions. Maybe a moisture problem, keep it power on to drive off moisture on the semiconductor ICs.until bluRay disks work.
