Question about Janome MyLock 634D Mechanical Sewing Machine

1 Answer

Janome 634d not working

It was working just fine then the right needle broke. I replaced the needle, now it will not work. When you manually go to turn the knob on the side and not use the foot, it will not turn. it locks up. When you open up the front area to take a look there is a pin on the right that moves up and down for the upper looper thread. Well it looks like to me it is no longer moving up and down properly and that is the reason the knob on the side is not turning all the way. Does anyone know if this is something I can adjust myself or do I need to take it in?

Check the needle plate. I had this problem with mine and it turned out that the needle plate had cracked.

Why does the right needle keep breaking in myloc 634d

I agree with John Smeed It could be that the needle is bent or in the wrong way if it keeps on breaking it must be hitting the throat plate or it's timing may be out( a pro job) Also check the needle is in as high as it can go.

The needles required will be listed in your manual, if you don't have a manual then buy any needles recommended for sergers/overlockers. Or check on the Janome website.

Tension to loose and missing stitches

SKIPPED STITCHES ON A SERGER
1. Is the needle bent or worn--replace
2. Is the needle inserted correctly into the needle holder--check needle
3. Is the Serger threaded correctly--rethread
4. Is the presser foot pressure right for the fabric--adjust

use a scrap piece of fabric to sew on as you adjust the tension
when the tension is to loose adjust one number higher till stitch
looks good

here's 2 links for a manual one is a hardcopy & the other is a
pdf downloadable--one is a different price from the other

check to see if the presser foot is loose
check to see if the needle is in backwards
if the presser foot is tight & needle is not in backwards then it could be a timming problem, since you said the needle is hitting the presser foot

Janome left needle thread breaking CONSTANTLY

Sounds like a tension problem. Your machine should have two tension adjusters. One for each needle. The book that came with your machine will tell you how. Another possibility is a bent needle.
