Does the file have some format usually three letters after the dot

You may need a particulat codec to play this, for a wide variety of Codecs you could download and install the codec pack from (always scan codec packs for viruses before installing, this one is clean IMHO, I scanned it with McAfee)

Windows xp won't open mbv file

I could find no information on MBV file types, so I am unsure as to what program this file is associated with. MVB files are associated with real player and you will need replayer to open them. Not every file on your computer has to be or should be opened. Were did this file come from? (if in email) Do i know this person? Did I download this file from a reliable source? these are question you should be asking, before you try to open any file you are unsure about. If the answer to any of them is questionable, then you are best not to download or open the file.

I cannon figure out how to add music from my computer to the slide show....please help me....I have 5 songs on my desktop and I cannot seem to figure out how to get them to slideshow...

Best jbannon257

There could be a number of reasons why you're having trouble adding music files to your slide shows. First I'll lay out the procedure and afterwards I'll give some hints / a link to where problems with audio files are discussed.

The procedure (adding music files using SlideShow Expressions):
The programme opens and you are automatically in tab 1: "Add Media".
Click on "Create New Slide Show". Click on "Add Photos"; tell the programme where the photos are, select them, insert them, change their positions if necessary.
1. Click on "Next" at the bottom of the screen.
2. At "Soundtrack", click "Select Audio Files", then tell the programme where the music files are located on your computer, click to highlight a specific music file, click on "Open". The music file you selected now appears in the Soundtrack window. Repeat this until all the music files you want appear in the Soundtrack window. (You can delete any of them by clicking to highlight any specific file and then click on the little rubbish can icon.) As you go along, the total audio time for the slide show / chapter is displayed as well as the "Duration of Slide Show".
3. In the "Duration" section, you have the option to set the length of time you want per slide (seconds) - usually 8 to 10 seconds is best. (All your slides will follow this instruction; you can't set the duration of individual slides to a different time.) At "Auto-Fit to Soundtrack", you alter the duration of the slides to fit the length of the soundtrack. (This cancels out the previous seconds-per slide setting.) You must therefore choose music tracks that, when added together, will approximately span the whole length of the slide show and then you can fine-tune this by clicking the "Auto-Fit to Soundtrack" option.
4. When you are satisfied with your choice of music tracks and the length of your slide show, click on "Finish".

Issues with music files when using SlideShow Expressions
According to the User Guide (section 3-3) - included on the install disc as a pdf file - the supported audio formats are: mp3, wma, wav, ra. Make sure that your computer also meets all of the requirements (on the box).

Photo & Video Expressions is not compatible with audio files that have been protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM) functionality. Most audio files purchased online through Internet music retailers like iTunes, Urge, or Rhapsody are encrypted with some form of DRM. Similarly, audio files that have been extracted from a CD or DVD (the process known as "ripping") using certain media applications (iTunes, Windows Media Player, etc.) often have default settings that encrypt the files extracted.

There is no way to used DRM audio files purchased from online music retailers with Photo & Video Expressions. However, if you want to used music and audio files that you have extracted from your CD collection, then all you have to do is change the ripping setting in your media application before you extract the files to your computer.
Go to the following site to read about how to change your ripping settings:

Type your question OR (below):

"Photo & Video Creativity": choose "SlideShow Expressions" from drop-down menu, click "Go".

A window appears with options on problems, e.g. "Why aren't my audio files showing?"; "Why won't my music files work?" Click to read.
The best of luck to you. From: 11407336.
PS. Try

How do i download video clip onto vlc

Hi there,

It depends what you are attempting to download. If you're trying to download streaming video, you would need some pretty advanced software like Camtasia's Screen Recorder.

However, if it's an actual video clip available for Download, you can do this.

Save the video clip to your Desktop or to a location you recognize. Once it's downloaded, open the File Location and right-click on the Video. Select Open With, then select Choose Default Program. From here, select "Browse", then search for VideoLAN VLC Player. Once you select the video file, make sure that the check box below is set to "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file."

Once you do this, every time you open an AVI File it will open it VLC Media Player. If you don't want this, just make sure "Always use the selected program..." is unchecked.
If this solution doesn't resolve your problem, please return to this page and submit a response. I will be happy to assist you further. :)

How do I get rid of screen savers I have one with underwater, fish swimming, bubbles and behind that one I have a Halloween on with a black cat, bats, etc.

If your are running Windows XP you have have several options. USE OPTION 3 ONLY if you are comfortable working with system files and as a last resort.

  1. Open your "control panel" > "Display". This will open your "Display Properties" window. Click the screen saver tab and set your screen saver to "[None]" This setting will not put your monitor into any screen saver mode.
  2. Open your "control panel" > "add or remove programs" usually a downloaded screen saver will appear in this list, find the appropriate file/screen saver you wish to remove & click remove. If you wish to permanently remove the screen savers.
  3. I strongly suggest you do full back up of your system or at minimum create a "Restore Point" BEFORE you do any of the following suggestions!!! You could also search for the screen saver files. Click "Start" > "Search" This will open the "Search Results" Dialog window. look in your local hard drive where XP OS is installed. This usually is your c: drive. In the "All or part of the file name:" box enter "*.scr" this will give you a list of screen savers in your "C:\WINDOWS\system32" folder. Be VERY CAREFUL working in this file!!!! If you delete the wrong file your OS System may quit working properly or altogether! I am not sure if a downloaded screen saver has the file extension ".scr", I think they do. Maybe someone else could clarify that for both of us.

Hemera The Big Box Of Art

Check Hemera settings and ensure that the path for the picture files is the right one, where files are stored.

Hemera usually reads the picture files from CD/DVD unit, if your system had renamed the DVD form D:\ to E:\, for example , then Emera wont be able to find files anymore.

Solutions to this problem.

Check file source folder on Hemera settings, and assign the right CD path.

Do a system restore to a date before having the problem.

If still no luck, then Windows may be corrupted, in that case , the standard procedure is reinstalling Windows, then reinstalling Hemera, and the rest of the software.

Henera The Big Box not exporting pictures

I had the same problem on my XP Media Center system. Some of the graphics either appeared to be all white, or they were like 99% white and you could faintly see the center of the image if you moved the mouse around.

Hemera has a fix. They call it a "faded image" problem.
It involves downloading two files. One is an updater. The other is a zip file that, once the contents are unzipped, you copy to the location where the first file was installed to.
