How to transfer movies from VHS tape to DVD.

I just cannot make this work, how do I transfer home movies from VHS tapes to DVDs? What wires go where and how to I program it, what buttons to I press? As you can see I am not very good at this stuff but can usually figure it out after a while.

Thanks, the guy in Walmart where I bought it said I could transfer the movies and there are some instructions on "dubbing" in the manuel. Back to Walmart I guess.

I hate being the bearer of bad news, but your unit is a dvd player only, not a dvd recorder. it cannot burn dvds, and so you cannot use it alone to transfer your home movies to dvd.

again, sorry...

Why won't the Sony controls let me click onto finalize using a Sony TV w/recoder to transfer VHS to DVD?

Is the VHS tape you are trying to record a commercial VHS tape (movie)? If so, it may have copy protection on it. The recorder is probably programmed to prevent you from making and using DVDs of commercial copy-protected VHS tapes.

Daewoo DVD-T "copy not possible - this media cannot be copied" when trying to copy from VHS (tape is not copy protected) to blank DVD-R and +R media. Same problem with all DVDs and VHS tapes

You can only copy non-commercial VHS tapes that you have recorded yourself to DVD. You can\'t make copies of most commercially made VHS movies due to copy-protection.

Is it possible to copy video from a vhs to a dvd?

If the DVD drive is a recorder, yes. If it is a player only, no. If the tape is copy-protected, recording to a DVD recorder is not possible. Assuming the tapes are not copy-protected, and you are using a DVD recorder with the correct format DVDs (DVD-R for example), you shouldn't have any problems transferring old VHS tapes to DVD.

I have a Magnavox ZV427MG9. I follow all directions in manual for dubbing VHS home movies to DVD but when I try to play the DVD back there's nothing on them. What am I doing wrong?

Depending on the procedure you may be pressing the record button instead of the D.Dubbing or Dubbing button. When recording from VHS to DVD you must first, load the blank DVD and VHS home movies, then play the VHS movies, then PAUSE the VHS movie when you want to START recording... then the only the you have to do is pressing the D.Dubbing button or the Dubbing button. If your VHS tapes starts to play after the Dubbing button is pressed you have been successful in Dubbing.

Connect DVD recorder to Video player/recorder- transfer VHStodisc

hook the video output from vcr to dvd input at rear, then hook output from dvd to tv input. note; you can not record protected vcr movies you can only record tv shows from sattelite to vcr or dvd recorder. its best to record straight from sattelite to dvd recorder for picture clarity.

Do I have to watch the whole VHS???

Hi

It hasn't got a function called high speed dubbing or recording like a tape player unfortunatly cause the VCR needs to be able to read the VHS and if it had high speed then it would be like fast forwarding the whole time and would look really bad.

If you have any questions please dont hesutate to ask

HELP! I can't figure out how to Connect my Sylvania DVD/VCR Combo to my older TV

Even if you do get it connected you cannot copy from vhs to dvd as you have bought a vcr recorder with dvd player, not a dvd recorder. You can only record to the vcr tape from a dvd, in the players controls.
