I have been told to press Alt+F10 repeatedly when the Acer screen appears on startup. This screen only shows for about two seconds and no mater how many times I have tried it nothing happens. All I want to do is get into the recovery program. Is there a back door to it?

I do not know what type of device you have nor do I know the O/S you are using. What function are you trying to Accomplish by this move? I can not think of anything that Alt+F10 does. Are you sure you don't mean The "FN" key and F10? Please try the FN key and F10 to see if you get the result you are looking for.

Hi,

Have you checked if the Alt key is working? You can try to plug in an external keyboard and try the Alt+F10, if it works then you're having a problem with the Alt key.

Hope this helps.

Programs and Files are uninstalling themselves, and then will not reinstall. What do I do?

Sounds like a virus to me, download and install the trail version of HitMan Pro and run it, here is a link to the download:

http://download.cnet.com/Hitman-Pro-3-32-bit/3000-2239_4-10895604.html

This should snuff out any viruses working in the background on your laptop...reboot and see if that has solved the issue, if not, try entering your recovery partition, while booting the laptop up hold ALT+F11 or ALT +F10 this should let you in to be able to recover and repair Windows.

Hope this helps

If you get to boot options menu, choose safe mode and hit enter (remember you mouse does not work in the boot options screen) once you are safe mode, check if the computer locks up. if not we have to find what in normal mode is locking up your computer.

How to reformat a laptop w/o drivers available

If your hidden partition is still in tact you can use the recovery function.

When you boot up the laptop press Shift + F10 when you see the Acer screen.

If that doesn't work try CTRL + F10 or ALT +F10 or Fn to F10

If you just want to format then you'll need a boot cd from any Operating System. XP, Vista, Linux, etc.
