Question about Ace Hardware InSinkErator Badger 5, 1/2 HP Garbage Disposal
When I turn on the disposal, it makes a very slight buzz sound. The outlet does work when I plug another appliance in. There is nothing stuck in the blades of the disposal and when I put my hand down in the disposal and try to manually turn the blades, the right set turns fine, but the left set does not move at all. I ensured the red reset button was pressed in. When I use the disposal wrench under the disposal, it does not turn at all. Any suggestions?
Check to see if the cutting plate is free and will turn-be careful and be sure no one can turn the unit on while you are trying to turn the cutting plate-it is located in the drain hole that the food goes down. If it is locked up, hardware stores sell a special tool to break it loose. It should not be too expensive. If the blade is free, the motor is probably burned out.
