My niece has a Coolpix 3200 not quite a year old. She keeps getting a message
saying "batteries are exhausted" on the LCD display. We've tried several sets of
brand new batteries and the warning still keeps appearing. I'm not familiar with
this camera though I do own a Nikon 35mm and a D100 digital SLR. Is anyone
familiar with this problem? I did a Google search but couldn't find anything.
Thanks.

Mines only a day old, and it hasn't turned on today at all. New batteries, leaving the camera alone to cool down, and it still says "Batteries Exhausted". How am I supposed to use a camera that won't work?

After inserting new batteries the camera will take one or two shots then the screen says "batteries exhausted" even when new batteries have been installed. Continual problem

That was good advice last year and may even be appropriate for a
Nikon CP 3200, but the times they have a'changed. With mucho flash,
focusing, zooming and LCD viewing, the Fuji P&S I bought last
December gets a couple hundred shots from alkaline AAs. If flash
isn't used, a set of alkalines (4) gets much more, probably better
than 800 shots per set. NiMH of course does better by a 2x factor,
and that's what I normally use. But alkalines are far more than
adequate The latest version of the camera (the S5200, which I
haven't seen yet) supposedly gets 25% more shots per battery
set/charge. Over the last 3 days (Thu-Sat) I took 210 shots, most
with flash but a bit less chimping than usual, all without having to
go to the backup set of NiMH AAs or the emergency set of alkalines.

send it back to the Nikon for checking up.
Mine, the same model 3200, fires off hundred of shot without having to
recharge the batteries. It's more than a year old now and still works
wonder.
