Question about GE Security Simon 3 Wireless Home Security System

Problem arming all sensors on ge simon security

Every time i try to arm both my door/window and motion sensors it only arms the door/window sensors. If I arm either of them seperately, no problem. However, the instructions say in order to arm both, push both buttons. I've tried pushing them simultaneoulsy, one at a time, in reverse order etc. with the same results.

Ditto for me. Although once in a while both will arm. I can't find a particular pattern to make it work though. Using the key fob to arm it seems to work good.

I have yet to test it but I think I've figured it out... I spoke to the place I bought the alarm from and he stated that for both the door/windows & motion to arm, you have to leave the house (or activate an exit door) or the alarm thinks you are still in the house. Since the motion is instant on, this prevents you from accidentally setting off the alarm if you armed it and never left.

So what if you want to arm both and stay inside? There is an option called Unvacted premises (in the Timers menu). It's on by default and makes the alarm behave as described above. Set this option to off and you should be able to set both and not leave the house.

Can the Simon xt be programed so that when you enter the stay mode there is not exit delay beeps?

There is always the exit delay, however, you can arm it silently and with no entry delay. To arm silently, press Door and windows, press silent.
To arm without entry delay, press doors and windows twice. Press silent if also wanting no beeps.

Can I arm some of my motion detectors to stay on when I am home. I have a simon xt

You can program a motion to act like a door and it will go on like a door. There are several ways to accomplish what you want, but each has some drawbacks. Contact me and we can discuss.

Have ADT 3000 series alarm system - would like to set it to max

adt sw3000 panel does not support max button on key pad. best solution would be to have ADT tech reprogram Zones so windows are perimeter zones(instant when armed away or stay) and motions interior follower (instant when no perimeter zone was triggered first). doors stay exit/entry.

Motion sensor disarms itself

the system is set up to bypass the motion if a door hasnt been opened during the exit delay. you can either open and close a door everytime you arm the system or if you have access to the installer you can delete option 52 and that will fix your problem

Motions don't stay active when doors and windows are on too.

The system is working as designed. If you arm both doors/windows and motions, but you DON'T exit the premises during the exit delay, the system will "downgrade" its arming to doors/windows only. The assumption is that you haven't actually left the premises and are at risk of creating fale alarms. This behavior can be disabled in System Configuration (though it may require the dealer access code to do it).

Try opening and closing a sensored external door (even if you don't go outside) during the delay after arming doors+motion and see if the motions don't stay active.

GE Simon XT panel lights window, door and motion indicators

It sounds like the auto-stay arming function. Try arming it and opening and closing the door.

GE Simon 3 Add or Change a Sensor to my system?

You need to use an installer code to add/remove sensors. Depending on what number of digits your alarm code is set for will determine the number for the intaller code. Look in the installer manual for the code. Then follow these steps:

Open the panel.
Key in installer coe
Select Add
Select Sensor/Remote
Activate the sensor you want to add. Some sensors have a button, some have to opened to activate.
Choose sensor name and group. Groups are listed in the manual. Basically, if you want the sensor to arm when the doors arm (such as for a window sensor or door sensor) put it in group 10 or 13. If it's a smoke sensor, group 26; motion detector, group 17 and keyfob, group 01.
Press done when finished and run the test to make sure the system is reading the sensor.
