Question about Whirlpool GH7145XF Microwave Oven
I have a Whirpool xnr2381753 microwave oven. Installed Nov. 2004. The light bulb has stopped lighting. Presumed to be burned-out. I wasn't having any luck removing this tiny bulb in the top center of the oven. My manuel did not refer to changing the bulb either. So before breaking something, I call their 800 support line. After a few minutes the lady said that replacing the light bulb would require a service tech to change it.
Would you have any alternative recommendations. I would hate to pay $50+ to have a little light bulb replaced.
Most likely you're going to have to dismount the microwave and remove the outside cover to get to the bulb. This is a fair amount of work but is not rocket science. I'm not famliar with your particular microwave, but it's probably that way. If it's any comfort to you, light bulbs are usually not covered by warranties or service contracts.
It won't hurt to run the microwave without a bulb.

The problem is almost certainly on the control panel, which we repair nationwide for $39.95 postpaid.
This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.
This often can affect the exhaust fan operation, too. The lights and fan can be inopoerable or stuck on.
