Philips 60pw9363 convergence issue

Not sure whats causing this (maybe ICs). Any help would be geat. I am a novice at this, but willing to try anything once. colors are not aligned at alland seem to be shadowing each other.

Dose it sound like ICs or could there be another issue?

    Slinteriors,

Thanks for the link on the repair kit. Are you sure that kit works for the model in this thread? I am suddenly having a blue convergence problem with the model described above, and a repair kit is definitely something I would like to try.

There is a convergence repair kit for ypour model which has both convergence ICs and all 12 Feed resistors at the following link. They also include step by step instructions with pictures of how to do the repair. Heres the kit for your model.

You probably got a convergence issue. What that is is when the RGB is out of allignment witch causes one color to show more the an other or vice versa. You going to have to have a repair guy come out and look at it.

Thanks hope this helps.

Did you replace the 6.8 ohm 1watt resistors? As that model will usually blow a couple when the ICs fail.

Convergence problem philips rear projection tv.

All convergence circuits require two voltages which are equal, one being positive the other negative. Check the power supply for these two voltages and then see if you're getting them at the output ICs. I suspect one of them is missing or low. If there are no cooked resistors near the ICs, inspect the fuses that protect those two voltage sources or the regulating devices themselves.

You have bad convergence ICs. Replacing them with any possible bad resistors will fix the problem. They are hooked to the largest heatsinks inside the tv, like stk392-120 or simmilar ICs.

Your TV most likely has one of two possible problems.

Problem #1: Convergence Chip Failure ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Problem #2 CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Picture of a set that needs the fluid changed.

What you will need to do is replace the coolant and clean the crt. You can get a repair kit from www.TvRepairKits.com that includes replacement coolant, photos. instructions, etc.

60PP9352 60 in. Rear - Blue convergence issue

Replacing only the ICs MAY solve the problem, however, many people have also had blown resistors requiring replacement. Also the convergence board should be checked for cracked solder. If you replace the ICs and the resistors are shot, the ICs may blow again almost immediately, meaning you may have to do the repair twice.
You do not have to replace any transistors to fix this convergence failure.
