Question about GE 27851FE2 Phone

1 Answer

Answering machine part of corded phone will not pick up

Bought new GE corded phone #25986GE1 about a month ago. never received any messages so I called my number and phone did not pick up. Exchanged the phone yesterday for another one and it won't pick up. I do not have caller ID or Call Waiting or digital phone service. My old AT&T corded phone w/answering machine still picks up but this one won't. I am installing it the same as my old machine so I know it is in the right plugs. PLEASE HELP. Should I just return it and go get another model?

After researching this model it would seem that you have a bad one. Here's a link to the product reviews for your phone..

Your machine is set to "Announce" instead of "Answer." Since you neglected to specify the model of your Uniden DECT 6.0 system I can only suggest you select it from the list beginning here to download a copy of the manual.

GE 25861GE3B

Good day Mickey, First I'll provide you with a link to the manual if you need it: http://157.254.235.130/public/25861_current.pdf I know it's a weird lokking link, it's a server from thompson which is the parent company for GE home electronics, not exactly yoo east to find. Anyway on to the problem at hand, To make it answer after more rings there is switch on the back of the base. It hase 3 settings 3/5/TS. If set to 3 it will pick up in rings, set it to 5 and it will pick up in 5 rings. The TS setting stands for TollSaver, do not use this setting, TS will cause it to pick up in 2 rings. Set it to 5, however if you want to get 10rings before it picks up there's a little trick. When the answering machine gets full it will start picking up in 10rings, they do this so you know your answering machine is full. You can still leave a meassge even when it's full, it will automatically delete the oldest message to make room for a new one. However the display on the machin will display an F instead of the number of new messages. Well I hope the helps with that problem, because I hate to be the bearer of bad news but that phone has a maximum capability of 10 speed dials (0-9) and that's the max. There are models on the market with lots of speed dials but there usually corded phones. Well Good Luck & I hope this helps. L8R

When using my 29897GE1-A and receiving an incoming call, I see the number on my display and the caller receives a message (not my reorded message or voice) stating my phone number and then a beep which...

I don't believe it's a malfunction. See if your current phone company has a voice mail active for your phone. If that's the case then odds are your voice mail is picking up before your answering machine.

I think that you can reset the system to factory settings by unplugging all power cords and waiting ten minutes, try this out.

I can not get my phone to pick up on the answering system when a caller is trying to leave a message

Try looking underneath the console of the answering machine. You must turn the answerer on on most machines and underneath there may be a switch to determine how many rings before it picks up as well.

GE Telephone answering machine will not work

I'm assuming this is a digital recorder and does not use a tape. Any chance the memory is full and you need to erase messages to free up space for new recordings?

You may need to re-register the phones. Below is a link to the owners manual in case you don't have one. Good luck. http://157.254.235.130/public/IB27996DOME0.pdf
