Screeching sound at end of spin cycles

That is the brake. Your clutch maybe wearing out. Or the belt maybe slipping because the rollers for the motor maybe wearing out.

That would be the brake. The brake stops the tub when turning. The brake pad is likely worn down to metal. You can get a replacement from partselect.com.

squeeling at the end of cycle or at end of any spin like ofter any drain. is the brake . you can solve thsi problem by lubing it . use a white lithium grease like 105 lubraplate . or maytag's poly lube .. you will have to lay the machine on its side. relace the brake by turning the center drive pulley and add the lube it will take a spin or two to work in . **** hope this hepls ..

The agitate cycle uses the motor and a spring to function. The spring is made in pieces and asit gets older some of the sections of the spring break. To verify that it is not a loose drum. Ope the washer during the wash cycle andhold the drun by hand. If the noise stops lool for the loose bolts or replace the springs, they may be weak after that many years.

You either have something caught between the tub and basket or a bearing bad.

sounds like a bad clutch. check the transmission out for ware and inspect the clutch as well. make sure the brake is not dragging as well.

I have the same problem...during SPIN it make a LOUD SCREECHING sound.

It is common for the brakes on Maytag top loaders to wear and make noise, as well, as the snubber. There is a helpful tip that you can try to quieten the noise if it is the snubber. DO NOT oil it, or lubricate with any petroleum based products! This will ruin the unit and actually make the problem worse. NOTE: If the snubber is excessively worn, it was also cause vibration on the spin cycle.

If the brakes are worn, however, you can put a light film of oil on the brake pad. It is common for the pad to collect moisture in humid and damp climates and start to squeak against the brake stator. The brake pad consists of a rotor with a leather edge (pad). The leather can absorb moisture and begin to squeak against the brake stator. Oiling it slightly will get rid of the noise.

sounds like the carbon brushes need replacing in the motor, they can cause a screeching sound as they wear down.

flip, the screeching is probably coming from the brake rotor lining. I've seen this a lot on Maytag top loaders. It's not the easiest job to do. You have to remove the pulley, thrust bearing assy. then you need a special tool to take the tension off the brake spring, remove the stator and snubber to replace the brake rotor lining assy. You could take it apart and see if it will clean up, but usually the brake has to be changed. Check out the picture...Catriver..post back.
