Dlink DCS - 5300G Problem with Camera Cont

By Luisa_K - usenet poster

Hi All,
Recently I purchased Dlink DCS 5300G Internet Camera with high hopes but I'm
completely disappointed with it.

I managed to configure it and I can access it from within Intranet. I Can see
video and hear audio upto some extent. I can also take snapshot. But I can't
make following functionalies to work:

1) Camera Control doesn't work, I can't move camera at all. Clicking on left,
right etc. button doesn't do anything
2) Wirelese doesn't work
3) Surveillance Software is greyed when I start it.
4) When I increased speaker voice on my PC i start getting a constant noise
like sound.

I'm behind Speedtouch Router and router has been working fine.

I tried to contact D Link support but no one pics up phone, raised request on
their website but no reply.

Can anyone help me out?

Cheers
Nirvana

If you are running XP/Win2000 have you allowed the download from the
camera to be installed on your computer ?

With an XP update microsoft introduced a change to activex, and you
have to click the picture to activate the control. you should be able
to move the camera by clicking in the picture or using the buttons on
the right hand side.

AS far as I know wireless will not work if you have network cable
plugged in -

Have you entered the correct router wireless channel, ssid, and any
wep keys needed correctly in the camera ?

Internet access
Have you opened the ports required and pointed them to the camera ip
address ?

ports 5001 - 5003 TCP and UDP need forwarding to camera ip address
port 80 TCP needs forwarding as well.

I have the non G version (5300W) and it works fine.
Do not use the surveillance software - cannot comment on that.
Have used the onboard motion detect, and that does work.

My comments apply to the DCS5300W, as far as I know the G version is
the same but with the wireless g instead of b

Final - try resetting camera back to manaufacturer defaults using the
reset button, though I expect that you have probably done that.

Hi Bob,
I can see and control web cam on #
So it seems that there is nothing wrong with my IE Browser and any other
settings.
I suppose problem is with camera configuration itself somewhere.

Tx Bob,
All firewalls are already stopped, and so any port blocking from McAfee.

When you first go to the camera there is a file that has to be
downloaded from the camera, it is automatic, so if you are seeing the
pictures then you must have done it.

how about a firewall stopping it? check whatever settings you
have in the firewall to see if anything is blocking it, if windows
firewall it may block some part of it and you have to tell it it is an
exception, so to allow .

Try it on someone elses setup perhaps.

Very sorry but do not really have any more ideas -

here is a dcs-5300w

Thanks Bob L for the reply.

With all my effort I manage to get Surveillance wotking on my Windows 2003
server but not from my Win XP.

However I'm still stuck with camera control. I can't make it work.
I have enabled all active X related options in Tools- thinking that it might be the cgi script causing problem,, I also enabled IE
to allow scripts execution but no success here,

I didn't get your following suggestions
"
"

I can't move camera from clicking on image. And also camera doesn't move from
clicking on left right up bottom buttons. Also these butons don't work from
Configuration page.

I'm using 5004 for HTTP port, and I can access camera from Internet. But
again Camera Control doesn't work.

I think I might be facing problem with CGI xcript execution, somehow these
scripts are not getting executed.

I have checked Firmware version and it is latest (verified from DLink UK
Website)

Any further help?
