A couple of options:

First, make sure you are running the latest Ubuntu distribution. Wireless support is a moving target.

Second, if it still doesn't work 'out of the box' check out the Ubuntu forums, specifically this link:

If you are not familiar with what modprobe is, it will unfortunately be an education for you :)

Hi i am using ubuntu linux i need install netgear usb adapter wg111v3 how can i install in ubuntu please help me

NETGEAR does not offer any offcial drivers for the adapter to work on Ubuntu as they dont support Linux OS. However, you may try third party drivers to install the adapter on Ubuntu. Try the below link:

Hope this helps.

Wmp54gs and Linux Ubuntu 7.10

I don't see the GS on Ubuntu's hardware list at all. I see older version, and they said some work, and some don't.

Hardware compatibility is, and will most likely always be an issue with any Linux distro.

Good luck.

Ubuntu 7.04 linux-install on Dell Laptop C610 doesn't see adapter!

Ubuntu is up to 8.04. They made a lot of improvements to the network interface. You should upgrade. Go to "system-administration-software sources-" click on the updates tab and then select normal updates under release upgrade in the updates tab. Ubuntu will then tell you that you have updates. State the update manager and click on the option to upgrade to the next version up. If you aren't sure how to do this write me back and I will help you.
