Thanks for trying. Reset button only surfaced the clock setting on the screen. C21:00 keeps on blinking. Probably needs to check by a service tech. regards Ron

For me, the alcohol sensor cleaning didn't work. I did some research on how the sensor works and it turns out the black stuff is conductive in low humidity and resistive in high humidity. That means the circuit need to be cloed to work,, cleaning off the black substrate would only open the circuit furthur, I cant understand why removing the black substrate is working for some people. After cleaning it to no avail, I tried bypassing (shorting) it. To test it I just took an ordinary pencil and filled in some conductive carbon where the black square was. And it worked. I could have bypassed the sensor by shorting the 2 solder contacts, but to reach it I would have to take it all apart. I'll make the bypass permanent when I have a day free.

FINALLY FIXED and ITS FREE! Typical Sony quality. I've a PC9 and have been smacking it every since for over 2 years until I found this link (http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/sony-hvr-a1-hdr-hc-series/88013-moisture-condensation-2.html) !! This will work for most Sony DV camera more than 6 years old.
No need to abuse your Sony anymore especially in public!!
Don't throw away a perfectly good camera . Even though its old. reuse recycle ... !

Try depressing the small "Reset" button with the camera power on. Use a sharp pencil/ball point pen to do that. It resets the logic in the camera and may help.

Error c:31:42

This code means
"FG fault during normal drum operations. Load the tape again, and perform operations from the beginning."

'C' indicates consumer-fixable problem.
'31' indicates the fix method (remove casette).
The 'FG' signal from the capstan motor is the tachometer signal that the camera uses to monitor the rotation of the capstan.

My DCR-TRV530 Digital 8 camcorder got stuck, the tape is half way out but it does not pop-out and I can't take it out

If the tape is wrapped around a head or caught in a pinch roller, then you may be able to remove it with your pen. Underneath the tape is a small hole. Insert a pen or similar object into the hole. This will let you disengage the spindles in the tape. You have to hold the pen in the hole to keep them disengaged. You can then pull out the tape cartridge. This will let you see inside and whatever may be holding the tape in. Hope this helps.
