Have you upgraded the computer at all? XP to vista, RAM, video or added a new hdd? To use a recovery disc that came with the computer the computer has to be the same configuration as bought.

Put the disk in and boot from cd when you see the splash screen.

as soon as its on, try hitting F12, it should tell you on the first screen when it flashes the POST screen as soon as you turn it on. usually F1 is to go into the bios, F12 goes into Boot selection, allthough it may be F11.

Then select " boot from CD" and hiot any key to continue, loads disk and you follow the instructions from there.

Ensure that the keyboard is set to the correct region and language.
If you are very troubled by the problem and cannot cope just recover the system files to an earlier state, it is called a system restore. Select a date in the restore facility when your computer was tunning correctly, you will then be directed to ok and then finidh the process.
Do these and the machine will be set to the earlier state when all was functioning correctly.

Download driver free

The processor chip does not have a driver. Intel info at: http://ark.intel.com/Products/Spec/SLB9Z . Try reloading the motherboard drivers - use the original discs that came with the system, or go to the motherboard vendor's website to get the downloads.

How do I wipe my hard drive clean and restore it to the way it was when I purchased it

If you have the original disc drive installed (and the original OS), try pressing F9 repeatedly after turning on the computer. (Sometimes, it can be hard to get the timing right - the button press needs to be seen after the POST and before Windows loads. If you see Windows starting to load, let it finish loading and then shut down the computer and try again.)

This will access the recovery partition and reformat the computer and restore the machine to the factory state. Follow the on-screen directions and make sure that you have saved your personal data elsewhere.

However, if your computer has the ASUS boot booster, you will need to disable this feature to access the recovery program. Try pressing F2 or Delete (depending on your machine) to enter the BIOS with the same timing as the above use of F9. Then find the option to Disable the boot booster. Then press the F9 key on another start up cycle. My ASUS computer doesn't have this feature so I'm not sure where it may be in the BIOS (if on your computer).

Asus offers a WinPE wipe and recovery option for some of their computers that can be put on a USB flash drive. http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20091019013723218&board_id=20&model=Eee+PC+1005HA&page=1&SLanguage=en-us has the procedure for one of their other models.

I hope this helps.

I m looking for common sound drivers.

Driver files can be found at btjunkie.org this is a place I go and get them. If you need future drivers. More than likely you can get the mother board drivers from your disc set provided for you at the time of purchase if you kept them.
You will also need utorrent software as well it is free to download get the software here. Click Me go to the search box type in drivers use this example, XP drivers. There are lots of them you can put on one disc and then insert the burned disc with the downloaded driver files in the ROM drive and point to the driver that has a highlighted yellow triangle or a question mark in DEVICES window which can be found in the control panel or right click on my computer then have the disc ready to be pointed to find the driver during the update driver files link RIGHT CLICK to access the driver update options.
I have used the 700,000 or the 50,000 or any one of the large files of drivers and have been able to repair computers for folks that do not have driver discs that came with there computers. It has never failed me.
You might run into an .ISO which is an image file to download some drivers get the MAGICISO software program at btjunkie.org.
This should enable anyone to find drivers that are hard to find. Use as last resort. Try to use your original discs first or order a lost restore disc makes life easier when installing programs into your personal computer. You may also use paid for Driver update software as well these work pretty well and not to expensive which saves you lots of time and efforts as well. I use driver genius as one of my main programs you can also find this at btjunkie.
Thanks for using FixYa for all your questions. Do not forget to vote for me as well if I helped you. John

I want to restore my neighbor's Mirus Desktop; and via MS Recovery Console: diskpart I see a 6.25 gig-byte hidden partition; and I assume this is the restore partition. What keyboard key combination at...

#1: Shut down your computer. You must first shut your computer down to initiate the factory restore. #2: Start up your computer and as the computer logo appears (such as Dell or HP) hit "Ctrl>F11" simultaneously. This may be different for different machines, but the most common keys to hit are "Ctrl>F11." If this does not work, the F8 key has been said to work for certain machines.
#3: Select "Repair My Computer" from the list of menu options that appear and press "Enter."
#4: Choose the language settings that you would like and then click enter.
#5: Enter the administrator log in and password if it asks you for this information.
#6: Choose the factory reset option. This should reset your computer to the factory settings when you bought your machine.

Uninstal

hi, this is hard with out the disc for xp, or the one that goes with the system. if you have the key code, and you can get a xp disc, you would be able to clean install of xp, but you would lose the extras and other software that came with the computer, most of those you can download. do not use a dell,hp,or any other brands install disc! unless yours is a direct match. you may try and find an oem xp disc(this is what i would do) and clean install.hope this helps, glen
