Question about KitchenAid Dishwashers

KitchenAid KUDK03ITWH dishwasher will not pump water out

Dishwasher purchased 12/16/2008 will not pump water out. Used wet vac to take out water and ran full cycle...same problem. Is there anything I could check, before assuming it is the dishwasher. Water drains OK down the sink. Any help appreciated...

You bought this on my birthday, so there can't be anything wrong with the dishwasher. :-)

1) Check that the drain hose did not get pinched during installation.
2) Check that the hose leaves the dishwasher in an upward fashion, to the bottom of the counter-top, before heading back down to the dishwasher connection.
3) Did the dishwasher ever work properly? And if it did, were you using the sink at the same time?

Reply back what you find out. Will be glad to help more.

Plugged with a pool of water on the bottom.

You can use a wet dry shop vac and attach it to the end of the drain hose to remove all the water.
then you need to check the drain pump for any thing that may be blocking or stopping the flow of water if you do not find anything there then you may need to replace the drain pump

Disconnect the hose from the garbage disposal and attach the shop vac to it this will remove all the water.

My Bosch dishwasher sounds like it is running but does not clean the dishes.

check bottom of dishwasher screens for any blockages or obstruction preventing water from getting into pump. may need a wet vac to **** water out of pump and use a small mirror to inspect pump openings. if no obstruction, the pump impellor maybe broken. replacing the impellor is fairly difficult. the dishwasher has to be pulled from under the counter. repost if you further questions.

Pump still going. Dishwasher flooded last week and pump still going every time i switch it back on. I have left off for 3 days and I have tried the reset.

Check the following:

You'll need to get the water out of the bottom of the dishwasher - a wet vac usually works the best.

Remove the bottom rack and check the pump inlet screen in the bottom of the dishwasher for debris - it would be best to remove the screen and look for anything that may be preventing water from entering the pump.

The sink, at least the side where the dishwasher drains to be sure it isn't plugged

The discharge hose from the dishwasher to be sure it isn't obstructed somehow - you may to remove it to be sure. Check the discharge line check valve assembly to be sure it isn't stuck with something

You could have a control board issue, but if the pump is running, it should pump.

My GE Profile Dishwasher circa mid 1990s will not completely drain. I took the drain cage off and found pieces of broken glass and old food remnants in it. I used a shop vac to **** it all out....

Sounds like there is. It is common to find objects or small pieces of cloth stuck in the water pump. Remove the water pump and disassemble it and reinstall it. Or purchase a new water pump and replace the old pump.

Every aspect of the dishwasher works except that it wont drain. After a short time on the drain cycle it turns itself off.

There could be something stuck in the pump. If you have a wet vac, you can try vacuuming out the water from the drain hose (it probably connects to the drain under the sink). If you try getting it back to the drain part of the cycle, and vacuuming out the end off the drain hose at the same time, you might be able to free the blockage...

If not, you will need to open the lower panel, and remove the pump so that you can open it and check inside. The pump might need to be replaced. If you don't have a wet vac, you will need to get as much water out of the dishwasher as possible from the inside, and then place a pan under the pump when removing it (there's not a lot of space, so be patient)

Kitchen aid dishwasher

  1. the water does not get into the dishwasher open the dishwasher 3-4 times during cycle, you should see some water at least once, if not - check water valve, water level float and water pressure.
  2. the pump is clogged - there is water, the motor will run but no water is circulated. Check pump filters, check chopper and impeller.
  3. motor in main pump is not working - could be caused by something stuck on the impeller or chopper or could be a problem with the motor itself or control board. Check if line voltage is coming to the motor during wash/rinse cycle.
Good luck,

Remove the backpanel of the machine, and look if there is water at the bottom of the machine. If so, use a towel or so to dry up the water. This should solve the prob.
