Question about Microsoft Flight Simulator X for Windows

Microsoft Flight Sim X Black Screen

I am trying to help my soon to be father in law who only plays this game. He has just purchased a hp and has been upgrading it so his game will perform the best it can, he just upped his ram to 6gig and just installed geforce 9800gt. The drivers that were sent with the card said that they were not compatible. I d/l the newest driver from invidia with no change. When the game is loaded it works fine all the way up to playing then nothing but black screen and audio, though when you go to exit, this exit screen has no problems coming up.

My father in law called me back, he was planning on uninstalling all
addons and such associated with the game and when he uninstalled the
most recent, service pack 2, it worked fine. Although, i did suggest
that he install the latest direct x, and check its drivers.

There may be a power issue with this card. make sure your power supply can handle the cards demands. also. if your using vista, you may want to switch to xp. i would update my direct x drivers as well.

My flight sim will only open in small screen. how do i get it to open full screen

Try pressing (alt) + (enter).
If that dosen't work go to options and go to graphics, you will most likely find a box called fullscreen. If not then just adjust the resolution to wathever you have on your screen.

I have Windows 7 and MS Flight Sim X - what is the best joystick for this combination?

Really, that is completely up to the user. I have the Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS joystick, and I like that. There are many joysticks out there that offer many different features as well as coming with rudder pedals as well. Really, the biggest factor on deciding comes down to how light you would like your wallet to be after purchase! :)

I been trying to fly i have just sat two hours waiting on the fsx trial version to get done saving what do i do next. also i wannna know how do i fly besides filling out a flight plan.

The trial version is what it is - a trial. MS are not going to allow you to play like the wind when you haven't paid for it. It is the best sim out there, and worth the money. As for flying, it would take more than this forum to teach you that. Try some of the forums like Mycockpit.com for further help and info. FSX does have training aids built in, so try them too.

Flight Sim X fails to load at statup

Check your video card and its drivers are up to date and not corrupted. Might be worth downloading new drivers. Basically after the menu screen the sim enters Direct3D mode and if there is a video driver problem, this is where it will pop up and start causing problems.
