Magnet fell out and i can not figure out where it goes

Our machine is a Fridgidaire Model LTF2940ESO, and I also have a magnet that fell out from the front soap dispenser drawer. It's about 1/4" square and about 3/4" long. Some workmen were moving the stackable washer/dryer away from the wall, and as they were tugging it outward, the front plate of the soap dispenser was dislodged and fell to the floor along with the magnet. I couldn't find any logical area to replace the magnet, so I just held onto it. Since then however, I have been experiencing a "DDO" error message, and the washer refuses to fill and/or start. Not sure of the function of the magnet, but Fridgidaire wouldn't have installed it if it wasn't needed for the machine to function properly. They (workmen) are returning here today, and I will have them verify that the washer is getting water (I'm not sure that it is), and see if they can get this thing going again.

The magnet goes on the front piece of the detergent tray. You must be getting a "DDO" (Detergent Drawer Open) error message. When you removed the detergent tray for cleaning, you probably also removed the white plastic (front) portion of the drawer from the darker plastic reservoir portion. That's when the magnet fell out. That magnet has to be in place for the washer to function properly.

It goes into the white plastic portion of the detergent tray. It is placed in the vertical position just inside the vertical wall of the front portion of the drawer on the right side (of the detergent tray) as you are looking at the washing machine. You really have to look for its' location, but with some effort you will see a vertical slot with "plastic retaining clips" which hold the magnet in place.

Hope you are successful but if not, post another problem citing details about what you have tried. I tried to post this message to you twice already, but the web site will not accept it for some reason. Perhaps they want you to purchase their "professional" (spelled expensive) service to resolve problems. We'll see.

THANK YOU rascal55371! Your information telling me to place the magnet in vertically was the piece of the puzzle I was missing.

The above worked for me. Thanks rascal55371! You saved me $80 for a service call! But the clip isn't working very well and doesn't keep it in there. Hope it will not get lost. thanks again

Our magnet fell out, where does it go

If you are talking about a small, rectangular magnet, about a 1/16" think or so, it goes in the detergent dispenser drawer. Looking at the front of the drawer, right side, a little behind the front. This magnet triggers a ( or should if its not falied) a magnetic reed switch which allows the washer to operate only if the drawer is closed.

If you take the drawer out, and remove the front, you will see where it goes.

Washer - soap dispenser door - Magnet fell out... where does it go

I had the same problem. If you turn the dispenser so that the front faces away from you, look on the left side in the front. half way up there is a space with what looks like a plastic clip that might hold the dispenser to the front bezel. This actually holds the magnet, which can be installed without taking the dispenser apart. Be sure to install (pop in) the magnet vertically so that the long part of the magnet sits next to the right side of the dispenser opening (when viewed from the front) when the drawer is closed.

Frigidaire + ddo error code

Excellent solution. I had a similar problem. The trick is to figure out where to put the magnet. I had a hard time with that.

For those like me who might have difficulty finding the spot for the magnet, it goes on the right hand side of the detergent door. The easiest way to do it is to pull the detergent door all the way out of the machine and look at it such that the back of the door is facing you. The magnet fits vertically in a slot on the left side as you are looking at the door (right side of the doorwhen inserted in the machine) in the white plastic. It sits vertically and is held by a small latch. This is not obvious at all...

if it's a small rectangular magnet that appears, in our case, fell out, when you add detergent, softener, etc...the magnet goes on the right hand bottom corner of the drawer face, straight up and down, not sideways. this is evidently some type of sensor allowing the washer to start. we had an error code of "ddo" when the magnet fell out.
